Renaissance University is a private university licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2005. [2] Its main campus is located in Ugbawka (Igbo: Ugbuoka) in Enugu State, Nigeria. [3]

Location

Renaissance University is located in Ugbawka (off Enugu-Port Harcourt Express Road en route Ebonyi State) in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State in Igboland.

The campus can be reached within 30 minutes by road from the capital city of Enugu. It is about an hour drive from Abia State University (Uturu), Ebonyi State University (Abakaliki) and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The commercial cities of Aba and Port Harcourt are between two hours and two and a half hours drive away.

It is one of two universities located in Nkanu land of Enugu State. The other is the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) - the first state university of technology in Nigeria, located at Agbani [4] in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

Colleges

The university has three colleges. [5]

The College of Natural and Applied Sciences has five departments. They are Microbiology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Computer Science and Industrial Physics. [6]

The College of Management and Social Sciences has eight departments. They are Economics, Mass Communication, Industrial Business Administration, Accountancy, History & International Relations, Psychology, Political Science and Banking & Finance. [7]

Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki (EBSU) was founded in 1999 in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Nigeria. The university's medical faculty was established in 1991 as ESUT's Faculty of Health Sciences. Many of its facilities were developed in response to a Guinea worm pandemic; the Abakaliki Specialist Hospital, created for this purpose, was remodelled to become Ebonyi State University's primary teaching hospital. It was subsequently granted accreditation by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for the training of medical students and resident doctors. Since it became part of Ebonyi State University, the medical school has received considerable funding from the Ebonyi government.


The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is a university in Nigeria that was founded as Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) on 30 July 1980, by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo. The creation of Enugu State out of Anambra State in 1991 by the then Military President General Ibrahim Gbadamasi Babangida, transformed ASUTECH into Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Chimaroke Nnamani is a medical doctor and Nigerian politician from Enugu State. He was elected Governor of Enugu State in the 1999 Enugu State gubernatorial election from 1999 to 2007. He subsequently served as a People's Democratic Party (PDP) Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2019.

Isi Uzo is a Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu State, Nigeria bordering Benue State and Ebonyi State. The largest city within Isi Uzo is Eha-Amufu, and the region is host to 23 autonomous communities with its capital in Ikem and the oldest town is Umualor(Umuero). After independence, the local government area was created in 1976. Isi-Uzo is a constituent of the Enugu East Senatorial District and has a population of approximately 220,000.

Nkalagu is a town in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. It is notable for having a large deposit of limestone which provided the raw material for the large cement plant of the Nigerian Cement Company (Nigercem). Nkalagu is the first town you will enter, when you are going into Ebonyi State through Enugu-Abakaliki express road. It is the headquarters of Ishielu West Development Centre and has five major villages: Ishiagu, Uwule, Imeoha, Amanvu and Akiyi. The village head in Nkalagu is also known as Onyishi. Each village has its own Onyishi which must be the most eldest son of the town. The major market is Nkwo Nkalagu which is located along Enugu-Abakaliki Express road.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Evangel University, Okpoto</span>

Evangel University, Akaeze (EUA) is a private Christian university in Ebonyi state. It is owned by the Assemblies of God Christian denomination. The university was licensed in February, 2012 and commenced academic activities on 27 November 2012 for the 2012/2013 academic session. The university began operation at its take-off campus in Okpoto with two colleges and one school. It has since been extended to four colleges while work is ongoing in view of a planned move to its permanent campus at Akaeze. Full accreditation was obtained from the National Universities Commission, NUC in 2016. The school is one of Nigeria's least expensive private universities. A 2016 survey report by Economic Confidential described Evangel University as one of the less popular destinations for students seeking admission to higher institutions.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ogbonnaya Onu</span> Nigerian politician (1951–2024)

Ogbonnaya Onu was a Nigerian politician, author and engineer. He was the first civilian governor of Abia State and was the minister of science, technology and innovation of Nigeria from November 2015 until his resignation in 2022. He was the longest serving minister of the ministry.

Owo is a town in Nkanu East Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu state, Nigeria. Owo consists of six main villages: Ashishi, Ohuani, Ishiegu, Ogere, Emene and Ndiagu. Other settlements which were originally part of the main villages are Ejaogbo, Mbulu, Ekeagu, Obegu ishiagu, Obegu Emene, Obegu Ogere, and Obegu Ohuani. These make up Mbulu Owo autonomous community created in the year, 2006. The town is an agrarian community: About 80% of the population are farmers. The population of Owo in 2014 was 9,879. The estimated population of Owo in 2022 is over 14,000 people.
