Federal University Oye Ekiti is a government-owned and operated Nigerian university. The university has two campuses located in the ancient cities of Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti respectively. The university was founded in 2011 as one of the federal universities established by the federal government of Nigeria during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. [1]
Federal University Oye Ekiti offers undergraduate programmes in fields of specialization which include Agriculture, Arts, Law, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Education, Pharmacy, College of Medicine and Sciences.
The university has twelve faculties and a school of postgraduate studies.
Federal University Oye-Ekiti is poised towards the advancement of education in Nigeria especially in all the fields of interest. Since 2011, offers have been given to students across relevant educational backgrounds to undertake studies in all the faculties in the university. The school had its first graduating set in 2015, with its first convocation in April 2017. [2]
Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) was one of the nine Federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria, pursuant to an executive order made by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR. [3] Federal University Oye-Ekiti, whose pioneer Vice Chancellor, was Professor Chinedu Ostadinma Nebo, OON, and was succeeded by Vice Chancellor Professor Kayode Soremekun who was appointed by President Buhari in 2016. The current Vice-chancellor of the school is Professor A.S Fasina, [4] the varsity has two campuses at Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti with the total population of 43000 student and Faculties with over 58 Departments, namely:
The university is looking forward to the start of another faculty in the next academic session, namely; Environmental Science, whose department includes; Architecture, Building, Estate Management, Surveying and Geoinformatics, Quantity Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning with required infrastructures being put in place. The first vice-chancellor of the new university was Chinedu Nebo succeeded by Kayode Soremekun and the current vice-chancellor is Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina. [6]

It was established as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ado-Ekiti on 30 March 1982 by the administration of Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, the first civilian governor of Ondo State. Ikole is a Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Ikole. The current Chairman of the Local Government is Prince Olominu Sola Ebenezer, who polled a total of 21,228 votes to defeat other candidates in the 2019 local government election in Ekiti State, Nigeria that was organised by the state Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC). He was sworn in alongside other newly elected chairpersons and vice chairpersons for the 16 Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, governor of the state on 31 December 2019. The Local Government Chairman is the Head of the Local Government Council, as well as the approving officer for funds disbursement and the Chief Security Officer for the Ikole Local Government Area. Prince Olominu Sola administration has prioritised infrastructural development in the area of boreholes rehabilitation, electricity reconnection of Ara Ekiti, construction of blocks of locks up shops, as well as investment in basic education and grassroots sports development, and urban renewal policies for improved trade and commerce.
The University of Port Harcourt is located in Aluu and Choba in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, it is located in South-South (Niger-Delta) region of Nigeria. It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given university status in 1977. The University of Port Harcourt was ranked the sixth in Africa and the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education in 2015. In July 2021, Owunari Georgewill was appointed substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Prior to his appointment, Nebo was the vice chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti from 2010 to 2013.
Kayode Soremekun is a Nigerian academic, author, and the third vice chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State. He assumed duty after the sacking of professor Isaac Asuzu by President Mohammadu Buhari who took over from Professor Chinedu Nebo, the pioneer Vice Chancellor

Abayomi Sunday Fasina is a Nigerian professor of soil science who became the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti state, Nigeria since 2021. He was the deputy vice Chancellor (Administration) until his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor. His appointment became a subject of controversy when a suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/250/2021, challenging the process was instituted in a Federal High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by a Non-governmental Organization called Tableland Society For the Oppressed (TSFO). The court in its ruling on 17 February 2022, held that the claimant (TSFO) did not have the legal right to institute the suit, while the trial judge also ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter, and consequently struck out the suit.
