Yobe State University is located in Damaturu, Yobe State, Nigeria. It was founded in 2006. The institution has grown steadily and currently offers programmes under several faculties, like; Faculty of Arts, Social & Management Science, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Law.^[1]^[2]

The Dufuna canoe is a canoe discovered in 1987 by a Fulani cattle herdsman a few kilometers from the village of Dufuna in the Fune Local Government Area, not far from the Komadugu Gana River, in Yobe State, Nigeria. Radiocarbon dating of a sample of charcoal found near the site dates the canoe at 8,500 to 8,000 years old, linking the site to Lake Chad. The canoe is 8 metres (26 ft) long.

The Damaturu prison break was an attack on the Jimeta prison at Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State in the northeastern Nigeria by 40 gunmen suspected to be members of the terrorist group Boko Haram. The attack is thought to have been a bid to rescue imprisoned members of Boko Haram. About 40 prisoners escaped from the prison; seven inmates and one prison warden died. The escaped prisoners were largely members of the insurgent.

Yobe State University is located in Damaturu, Yobe State Nigeria. It was established under the [Yobe state] law in 2006 by Alh. Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the then Executive Governor of Yobe State(1999-2007).
