The Federal University of Kashere, also known as FUKashere, is a public conventional university situated in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. [1] The recently established university is situated in the small city of Kashere, an administrative territory of Pindiga, Akko local government in Gombe State, Nigeria. It was established in 2010 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration as one of the nine new federal universities created in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. The university was established in a bid to increase access to education and also to ensure equity among all the States in Nigeria.

Approval of MSc, PhD in Mass communication

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of full time MSc, phD in mass communication program for post graduate students in Federal University of Kashere on 14 June 2023. [2]

Vice chancellor

The current vice-chancellor is Prof. Umaru A. Pate. [3] He succeeded Prof. Alhassan Muhammed Gani, whose single term tenure of five years expired on February 10, 2021 [4]

Registrar

The former registrar of the school Alhaji Kabiru Garba Aminu handed over to the new Acting Registrar Mallam Umar Faruq Bayu which is appointed in August 2022. [5]

Library

The Federal University Kashere Library is a two–storey building, located at a central position making it accessible to the entire university. The library fully started operation in 2012. [6] It has five divisions: Technical Service Division, Reader Service Division, System and Multimedia Division, Reference and Information Services Division, and Serials Management. [7]

Alhassan Mohammed Gani is a Nigerian academic and administrator who is the former vice-chancellor of Federal University Kashere, in Gombe state.

Sunusi Mamman was the vice chancellor of Umaru Musa Yar'adua University from 2017 to December 15, 2022. His appointment as the university's substantive vice chancellor came after the tenure of Professor Idris Isa Funtua expired. Professor Sunusi Mamman was once the acting vice chancellor of the university from February to June 2015 and the deputy vice chancellor (administration) of the university from 2014 to 2016. A professor of special needs education with special interest in cognitive exceptionalities. His reign as acting vice chancellor was characterised by massive structural development which gave rise to the utilisation of the 2013 Needs Assessment funds of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (tetfund) that financed for the constructions of additional male and female hostels, Post Graduate Students Hostel and other developmental structures. He also introduced several constructions in all the five faculties of the university. He sponsored academic and non-teaching staff to pursue higher degrees in many universities at home and abroad thereby boosting the workforce in the university. Professor Sunusi Mamman's tenure as Vice Chancellor of Umaru Musa Yar'adua University was marked by transformative achievements that significantly enhanced the institution's academic and infrastructural landscape. One of his most notable accomplishments was the establishment of the Medical College, which obtained approval for the commencement of the MBBS program ¹. This milestone was complemented by the introduction of the Faculty of Agriculture and the School of Continuing Education, offering part-time degree programs to cater to diverse student needs.

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a public research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. It was opened in 1962 as the University of Northern Nigeria. The university has four colleges, three schools, 18 faculties, 110 academic departments, 17 centres, and seven institutes with over 600 professors, about 3000 academic staff and over 7000 non-teaching staff. The university has over 400 postgraduate programmes reflecting its strife to become a postgraduate studies-centred university. The university operates from two campuses in the ancient cosmopolitan city of Zaria, the Samaru Campus where the Senate Building and most of the faculties are located and the Kongo Campus, hosting the faculties of Law and Administration. It has been adjudged to be the largest university in Sub-Saharan Africa, in terms of land occupied, owing to the numerous buildings it has.

The Federal University Wukari was established in 2011 by the federal government of Nigeria led by the then President, Goodluck Jonathan, the school was established as one of the nine schools established at the time. Federal University Wukari is located in the town called Wukari in Taraba State, Nigeria.
