Crawford University is a private Christian University in Igbesa, Ogun state in Nigeria, owned by the Apostolic Faith Mission.

History

Crawford University was established in 2005 by Paul Akazue, the then leader and third Overseer for the Apostolic Faith work across Africa. Rev. Paul Akazue was the Proprietor and the first installed Chancellor of the Crawford University, before his death in May 2010.

Nigeria is a federation of 36 states, each of which is a semi-autonomous political unit that shares powers with the federal government as enumerated under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In addition to the states, there is the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in which the capital city of Abuja is located. The FCT is not a state, but a territory of the federal government, governed by an administration headed by a minister. Each state is subdivided into local government areas (LGAs). There are 774 local governments in Nigeria. Under the Nigerian Constitution, the 36 states enjoy substantial autonomy but are not sovereign entities, as ultimate authority lies with the federal government. Amendments to the constitution can be proposed by the National Assembly, but for an amendment to be valid, it must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the 36 state legislatures, as required under Section 9 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

The Church of Nigeria is the Anglican church in Nigeria. It is the second-largest province in the Anglican Communion, as measured by baptised membership, after the Church of England. In 2016 it stated that its membership was “over 18 million", out of a total Nigerian population of 190 million. It is "effectively the largest province in the Communion." As measured by active membership, the Church of Nigeria has nearly 2 million active baptised members. According to a study published by Cambridge University Press in the Journal of Anglican Studies, there are between 4.94 and 11.74 million Anglicans in Nigeria. The Church of Nigeria is the largest Anglican province on the continent of Africa, accounting for 41.7% of Anglicans in Sub-Saharan Africa, and is "probably the first [largest within the Anglican Communion] in terms of active members."

The University of Ibadan (UI) is a public research university in Ibadan, Nigeria. The university was once a college of the University of London. The college was established in 1948 as University College Ibadan, one of many colleges within the University of London. It became an independent university in 1962 and it is the oldest degree-awarding institution in Nigeria. Through its graduate network, the University of Ibadan has contributed to the political, industrial, economic and cultural development of Nigeria.

Olawale Gladstone Emmanuel Rotimi, best known as Ola Rotimi, was one of Nigeria's leading playwrights and theatre directors. He has been called "a complete man of the theatre – an actor, director, choreographer and designer – who created performance spaces, influenced by traditional architectural forms."

Jacob Festus Adeniyi Ajayi, commonly known as J. F. Ade Ajayi, was a Nigerian historian and a member of the Ibadan school, a group of scholars interested in introducing African perspectives to African history and focusing on the internal historical forces that shaped African lives. Ade Ajayi favours the use of historical continuity more often than focusing on events only as powerful agents of change that can move the basic foundations of cultures and mould them into new ones. Instead, he sees many critical events in African life, sometimes as weathering episodes which still leave some parts of the core of Africans intact. He also employs a less passionate style in his works, especially in his early writings, using subtle criticism of controversial issues of the times.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Benson Idahosa</span> Nigerian pentecostal preacher (1938–1998)

Benson Andrew Idahosa, was a Charismatic Pentecostal preacher. He founded Church of God Mission International. Archbishop Benson Idahosa was popularly referred to as the father of Pentecostalism in Nigeria. Idahosa was the founder of Benson Idahosa University (BIU) in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. His only son, Bishop F.E.B. Idahosa, is now the president of BIU, founder and president of Big Ben's Children Hospital, and vice-president of All Nations for Christ Bible Institute International, among other positions.

Peter Olufemi Adeniyi, is a distinguished Nigerian academic and administrator. He served as vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure from 2002 to 2006. He was the winner of the John I. Davidson Award donated by the International Geographic Information Foundation in 1984.

Ajayi Crowther University is a private, faith-based university located in Oyo State, Nigeria.

The CMS Grammar School in Bariga, a suburb of Lagos in Lagos State, is the oldest secondary school in Nigeria, founded on 6 June 1859 by the Church Missionary Society. For decades it was the main source of African clergymen and administrators in the Lagos Colony.

Covenant University(CU) is a private Christian university in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. It is affiliated with Living Faith Church Worldwide and is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of African Universities, and National Universities Commission. In 2019, Covenant University became the first Nigerian university to be ranked in the top 401-500 category of world universities by Times Higher Education.

Ladipo Ayodeji Banjo, was a Nigerian educational administrator and emeritus professor of English who was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also served as pro-chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University.

Abubakar Sani Sambo is a Nigerian Mechanical engineer, former Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Chair of the Nigerian Member Committee of the World Energy Council (WEC), Africa Region and former Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria.

Isaac Folorunso AdewoleFAS is a Nigerian professor of gynaecology and obstetrics. He was minister of health of Nigeria from November 2015 to May 2019 under the Cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. He is a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, and president of the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer.

Dapo Folorunsho Asaju is an academician and also the Bishop Theologian of the Anglican Church of Nigeria and the former vice chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University. Dapo was appointed by the Governing council of Ajayi Crowther University.

Issac Rotimi Ajayi is a Nigerian physicist who serves as the Vice Chancellor of Wellspring University.
