The Accra Institute of Technology (AIT),^[1] is an independent technology-focused research university based in Accra, Ghana. The university comprises six schools and three institutes.

The university is modeled on internationally renowned institutes of technology like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the California institute of Technology (CALTECH) - both universities are consistently ranked in the top ten of the global rankings of universities worldwide.^[2]^[3]

AIT is equally a leading research university in Ghana with over 250 enrolled on its PhD programs.^[4]^[5]

Accreditation

AIT^[6] is accredited by the National Accreditation Board (Ghana), of the Ministry of Education in Ghana^[7] to offer campus-based and open university programs in various fields.^[8] The campus-based programs are offered at the undergraduate level in engineering, computer science, information technology and business administration.

The University for Development Studies, Tamale was established in 1992 as a multi-campus institution. It is the fifth public university to be established in Ghana. The Presbyterian University, Ghana is a partially private & public university with multi- campuses and its headquarters located at Abetifi-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is one of the new universities in Ghana granted accreditation by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission – GTEC. It was established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on 23 November 2003 and inaugurated on 27 March 2004 by the former president of Ghana in that republic, John Agyekum Kufuor.

The Pentecost University is a private university located at Sowutuom in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It was founded by The Church of Pentecost (COP) and evolved from The Pentecost Bible College which initially trained only Lay Leaders and full-time Ministers for the COP. On May 22, 2003, J. A. Kufuor, the former President of Ghana, inaugurated PUC at the Sowutuom campus. The first PUC Council was inducted on May 6, 2004. Pentvars was accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB), Ghana in November 2004 and awarded its Presidential Charter on May 28, 2020, by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana. Prior to receiving a Presidential Charter, the university was affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, and University of Ghana. On June 1, 2020, the university announced the appointment of Rev. Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, who replaces Apostle Daniel Okyere Walker, as the first Vice-Chancellor since the university became fully-fledged.

The College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources (CANR) is one of the six colleges of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.

Madina is a suburb of Accra and in the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal District, a district in the Greater Accra Region of southeastern Ghana. Madina is next to the University of Ghana and houses the Institute of Local Government. Madina is the twelfth most populous settlement in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 137,162 people. History has it that Madina was established by people from different ethnic backgrounds and some foreigners led by Alhaji Seidu Kardo. Madina is contained in the Madina electoral constituency of the republic of Ghana. It shares borders with Adentan Municipal on the west, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to the South and the Akwapim South District. to the north.

The University College of Management Studies is a private university college in Accra and Kumasi, Ghana. The school is affiliated with the School of Business of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi Campus.

The National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana is the Government of Ghana agency responsible for the regulation, supervision and accreditation of tertiary institutions in Ghana. It is an agency under the Ministry of Education.

The Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Korle Bu, the premier institution in Ghana for nursing education, is located in Korle Bu in Greater Accra. The establishment of the college in 1945 was supervised by Agnes Yewande Savage, West Africa's first woman doctor. The college is a public health training institution, and it is supervised by the Ministry of Health, Ghana (MoH).

Adabraka is a town in the Korley Klottey Municipal Assembly, a Municipality of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It was the first and the most posh neighborhood in Ghana during the British era.

The University of Media, Arts and Communication- Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ), formerly the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), is a public university in Ghana. The University is a merger of the erstwhile Ghana Institute of Journalism, the National Film and Television Institute, established and the Ghana Institute of Languages .The institute is accredited by the National Accreditation Board.

Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) is a Biomedical research institute located at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. It is a joint venture between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany. It was founded in 1998 and has about 250-300 workers. The centre's objective is to develop a series of world research programs through the acquisition of research grants. The center also tests and confirms samples for COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana.

Ghana Christian University College, formerly known as Ghana Christian College and Seminary, is a private tertiary institution in Ghana. It was established in 1966 by independent Christian missionaries from the United States. It is located at Amrahia in the Adentan Municipality in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The initial purpose of establishing the university was to train missionary workers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The first and main program offered was Theological studies.
