Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) is a Nigerian Public tertiary institution located in Biu, Borno State, Nigeria. It is a research higher institution for innovation and technology for the Nigerian Army. It was established in 2018. [1] [2]

The university is managed by the Nigerian Army which has 75% civilian and 25% military and paramilitary. It is the first Nigerian Army University and Africa's First Green University. [2]

Background

Nigerian Army University Biu was established by the federal government of Nigeria to be a centre of innovation and technological development for the Nigerian defence sector and the nation to meet the ever-changing and rapid development in the dynamics of modern warfare. The Act to establish it was passed in 2018. [3] [4]

The university is located in Biu, Borno State. It focuses on research and technological innovation in the defence sector with particular emphasis on local challenges in asymmetrical warfare in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. [5]

University of Cross River State also known as UNICROSS is a state-owned tertiary institution with four campuses spread across four Local Government Areas of the state. The University was formerly known as the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH). It was renamed in February of 2021 by a bill passed at Cross River State House of Assembly which was then approved by the former governor of the State, Benedict Ayade. The change of the tertiary institution's name was to enable the varsity function as a conventional University, which provides the opportunity to offer more professional courses rather focusing on tech-related courses. Abubakar Kyari is a Nigerian politician who is the minister of Agriculture and Food Security. He was the senator representing Borno North Senatorial District from 2015 until his resignation in April 2022. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress, and briefly served as its acting national chairman in 2023.

Kyari Mohammed is a Nigerian academic, professor of History, and the Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State and the former Vice Chancellor of Moddibo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH),, Adamawa State, and serves as Chair for Peace and Security Studies at the same institution. He began his position as a replacement for Prof. Bashir Usman Hanna. Mohammed is one of Nigeria's leading scholars on the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency and counter insurgency. Now on this day been 26 April 2019, a new Vice Chancellor has been announced in person of Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur, Professor of Geography, from the department of Geography of the institution, after the contestant has been screened by the panel on Vice Chancellor matters on 23 April 2019. Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur emerged as the winner.

Borno State University is in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. It was established in 2016. It has five faculties with over 20 departments. The pioneer and current vice chancellor of the university is Prof. Umar Kyari Sandabe. In June 2021, the university's senate building was inaugurated by Muhammadu Buhari the current president of Nigeria.

Shuaibu Ibrahim, DSS, Ph.D., MTRCN, is a Nigerian Army general and the former Director General of NYSC, a position he assumed on 10 May 2019 and his tenure ended in 2022. Prior to his appointment as the 18th DG of NYSC, he was the Registrar of the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno. In 2007, he was decorated with Forces Service Star (FSS), in 2012, he was decorated with Meritorious Service Star (MSS), whilst in 2018, he was decorated with Distinguished Service Star (DSS). He is a member of Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (MTRCyN).

Abubakar Kundiri is a professor of soil science. He is the former vice chancellor of Federal University Dutse and Federal University Wukari, Taraba State, in Nigeria.

Florence Banku Obi is a Nigerian academic, author and a professor of education with specialization in psychology and special needs education. She is the 11th substantive vice-chancellor of University of Calabar and the first female vice-chancellor since the inception of the institution. After her appointment as the new VC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who chairs the Senate Adhoc Committee on Constitution Review, described Prof. Obi as “an astute educational icon.” She was previously the deputy vice-chancellor, academics and commissioner for women affairs in Cross River State. She was a candidate in the 2015 VC election but was not elected until 2020 when she became the first woman to be elected.
