Yobe State University is located in Damaturu, Yobe State, Nigeria. It was established under the Yobe state law in 2006 by Alh. Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the then Executive Governor of Yobe State(1999-2007). [1] [2] [3] The current Vice Chancellor of the university is Professor Mala Mohammed Daura. [4]

Yobe is a state located in northeastern Nigeria. A mainly agricultural state, it was created on 27 August 1991. Yobe State was carved out of Borno State. The capital of Yobe State is Damaturu, and its largest city by population is Potiskum. While by the largest by land area is Fune, Potiskum Local Government Area is a place of Farmers and marketers, the largest cattle market in Africa is located in Potiskum.

Umaru Musa Yar'adua, then the executive governor of Katsina State and later the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, began the work of creating the university before his death in 2010.

Mala Mohammed Daura is a Nigerian academic and administrator. He has been the Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu since January 1, 2020, following his appointment by the Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni. He is the fourth Vice Chancellor of the university.
