Sheikh Hasina University is a public university in Netrokona, Bangladesh. On 30 January 2017 in regular cabinet meeting, chaired by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, agreed in principle to the acts for the Netrokona University in Netrokona District. The initial plan was to set up a science and technology university in Netrokona, but it was later revised to a general university, offering courses in arts, commerce other than science. At present, there are a total of 55 public universities in the country. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Sheikh Hasina Wazed is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024. She is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first president of Bangladesh. Having served for a combined total of over 20 years, she is the longest serving prime minister in the history of Bangladesh. She was the world's longest-serving female head of government. Her premiership ended in self-imposed exile following a series of violent protests in 2024.

Bangladesh University of Textiles, commonly referred to as BUTEX, is a public university in Bangladesh, situated in Tejgaon, Dhaka. It is the only public university in Bangladesh to teach textile engineering. The institution established education which sustains the entrepreneurship and industrialisation in the RMG industry of Bangladesh.

Textile schools in Bangladesh offer various academic and professional degrees in textile fields. A number of colleges and technical institutes as well as some universities offer diploma, bachelor's and master's degree from their allocated faculties upon completion of certification courses. Textile courses offered in these schools include spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing, apparels merchandising and fashion designing. As of 2019, textile material is the largest export item of Bangladesh. Bangladesh exported $42.35 billion worth of readymade garments in the 2018–2019 fiscal year.

Salman Fazlur Rahman commonly known as Salman F Rahman is a Bangladeshi businessman, and a former member of the Jatiya Sangsad representing Dhaka-1 constituency. He held the position of private industry and investment adviser to the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, with the status of a cabinet minister. Prior to this, he was her private sector development affairs adviser. In 2017, he was ranked as the 1685th billionaires globally published by Beijing-based Hurun Gobal. He holds the position of vice chairman at BEXIMCO Group, one of the Bangladesh's largest conglomerates. He was the president of several trade bodies, including the Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO). He is currently in the custody of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on the charge of instigating killing during the Bangladesh quota reform movement.

Sheikh Hasina Cantonment is the headquarters of 7th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Lebukhali, Barishal. The area of the cantonment is 1532 acres. The project will be completed by the Ministry of Defence by June 2021.

Obaidul Hassan is a jurist who served as the 24th chief justice of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He was appointed as the chief justice on 12 September 2023. He also served as the president of the Inquiry Committee, 2022 for the formation of Bangladesh Election Commission. He was forced to resign as Chief Justice in the aftermath of the Non-cooperation movement (2024).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bangladesh protests (2022–2024)</span> Series of anti-government protests in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh protests of 2022–24 was a series of protests against the government of Sheikh Hasina between 2022 and 2024. Anti-government protests broke out in Bangladesh on 10 December 2022. The protests were initiated by the Bangladeshi opposition, which vowed to continue protests despite autocratic crackdown. The protests remained low-level, with some vandalisation occurring in November and December 2023. Later in July 2024, it accelerated to the quota reform movement and finally the non-cooperation movement, leading to Hasina fleeing the country after resigning.

Golam Kabir is a Bangladeshi academic and a former vice-chancellor of Sheikh Hasina University. He is a former dean of Life and Earth Science Faculty at the University of Rajshahi.
