Shen Teng (born 23 October 1979) is a Chinese comedian, actor and director. He is known for starring in the films Goodbye Mr. Loser (2015), Never Say Die (2017), Hello Mr. Billionaire (2018), Crazy Alien (2019), Pegasus (2019) and its 2024 sequel, Hi, Mom (2021), Moon Man (2022), and Full River Red (2023).

Biography

Shen Teng was born in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang, China in 1979. He attended the People's Liberation Army Academy of Art in 1999 and received a bachelor's degree in 2003. [1]

One of the most popular comedians in China, Shen has performed on CCTV's several New Year Galas [2] [3] and played the leading role in the film Goodbye Mr. Loser in 2015, which was his breakout film role. Since then, he has starred in films such as Hello Mr. Billionaire and Pegasus .

In 2020, he ranked 28th on Forbes China Celebrity 100 list. [4]

With the success of Pegasus 2 , Shen Teng edged out Wu Jing as the top-grossing actor in China, leading role was about 33.5 billion yuan of 25 March 2024. [5]

Personal life

Shen married actress Wang Qi in March 2016, after 12 years of dating. [6] Their son was born in August 2018. [7]

The film is based on a play of the same name. It was released on 30 September 2015. It is the first film directed by Jia Ling; a semi-autobiographical fantasy story about a young woman who is suddenly thrown back in time to the year 1981, where she meets her mother and develops a bond of sisterhood with her. My Country, My Parents is a 2021 Chinese three-part anthology drama film, consisting of four segments directed by four directors, Wu Jing, Zhang Ziyi, Xu Zheng, and Shen Teng. The four directors also star in their own stories, each covering a different genre and taking place in different periods from the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1942 to a futuristic world in 2050. The film became the third installment in a series that celebrates the founding of the People's Republic of China on 1 October 1949, with two prequels, My People, My Country and My People, My Homeland, released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The film was released in China on September 30, 2021, to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
