Shudufhadzo Musida (born 18 July 1996) is a South African model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2020. She is the second title holder from the province of Limpopo - the first being Bokang Montjane. She is the first title holder whose first language is Venda, and was selected to represent South Africa in Miss World 2022. Musida is the first bald woman to win Miss South Africa. Early life

Shudufhadzo Musida was born on 18 July 1996. [7] She is from Ha-Masia village, Vhembe District Municipality of the Limpopo province. [8] Musida studied at the University of Pretoria where she earned a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. [6] Before winning Miss South Africa, she was completing an Honours degree in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand. [7] She is one of two sisters; her mother Thandi is a real estate agent. [5] She values her Venda heritage and enjoys traditional Venda cuisine. [9]

Career

In October 2020, at the Miss South Africa finals held at Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, Musida won the crown. [2] Before the finals, she had won the public vote. [3] Prizes for winning the final included 1 million rand, and use of a fully furnished Sandton apartment and a Mercedes-Benz C200 Cabriolet for one year. [4] Musida is an advocate for mental health awareness and the educational and economic empowerment of children and women. [5] Former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi is cited as a role model by Musida. Miss South Africa is a national beauty pageant in South Africa that selects South African representatives to compete in one of the Big Four international beauty pageants Miss Universe, and also selects another representative to participate in Sub-major international pageant Miss Supranational. The Miss South Africa organisation resorted to a contemporary format in selecting representatives which was inaugurated in 2018. Following their newer method, both a Miss World South Africa and a Miss Universe South Africa were selected as representatives. She became South Africa's representative to Miss Earth 2016 which was held on October 29, 2016, in the Philippines in which she achieved a Top 16 placement.

Twenty-eight candidates from different districts of the country competed for the title. Of whom, a model from Newcastle, Sharné Dheochand, was announced the winner and will represent the country at the international parent stage, Miss Grand International 2024.
