Bharathan was an Indian film maker, artist, and art director. Bharathan is noted for being the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Padmarajan and K. G. George, in the 1980s, which created films that were widely received while also being critically acclaimed. A train of directors, and screenwriters followed this school onto the 1990s including Sibi Malayil, Kamal, Lohithadas and Jayaraj.

Nidra is a 2012 Indian Malayalam-language romantic thriller film directed by Sidharth Bharathan in his directorial debut. Chandrettan Evideya is a 2015 Malayalam-language romantic fantasy comedy film directed by Sidharth Bharathan. The film was produced by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid and Ashiq Usman. It stars Dileep alongside Anusree and Namitha Pramod in the main roles. It is the second directorial of Sidharth. The story and screenplay is penned by noted author Santhosh Echikkanam who had teamed up with Sidharth in his directorial debut Nidra (2012). The songs are composed by Prashant Pillai. Soubin Shahir is an Indian actor and director who works in Malayalam cinema. He began his film career as an assistant director in 2003 and worked under several directors. Soubin made his acting debut in 2013 with a supporting role in Annayum Rasoolum. He made his directorial debut with the drama Parava (2017). In 2018, he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his leading role in Sudani from Nigeria, which was also a major commercial success.
Parava (transl. Pigeon) is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Soubin Shahir with a script jointly written by Shahir and Muneer Ali. It is Shahir's directorial debut film and stars Amal Shah, Govind V. Pai and Shane Nigam, along with an extended guest appearance by Dulquer Salmaan. Principal photography began at Fort Kochi on 1 June 2016. The film was released on 21 September 2017.

It upsets the man and his family after it goes viral. The film was released on 4 October 2019. The film was remade in Tamil as Payanigal Gavanikkavum.

Meow is a 2021 Indian Malayalam-language family drama film directed by Lal Jose and written by Iqbal Kuttippuram. It stars Soubin Shahir and Mamta Mohandas. The film is about a non-resident Indian businessman named Dasthakir who lives in the United Arab Emirates. He is from Aluva and hates cats. The film was shot in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
Mashar Hamsa is an Indian costume designer from Kerala, who works in the Malayalam films. He started his career as a film costume designer in 2013 with the movie Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi. As of April 2023, Mashar has designed costumes for more than 30 Malayalam films. He is a recipient of 2020 Kerala Film Critics Association Awards for best costume designer for the movie Trance.
Manjummel Boys is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller film written and directed by Chidambaram, and produced by Parava Films. The film stars an ensemble cast, which includes Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, and Vishnu Reghu. Based on a true incident from 2006, the film revolves around a group of friends from a small town called Manjummel near Kochi, who decide to have a vacation in Kodaikanal.
