Medalling in two Olympic Games in 1988 and 1992, he was a World, European and Commonwealth champion in his specialist event, the 200 metres breaststroke. His career broadly overlapped with fellow British breaststroker and Olympic 100 metre breaststroke champion, Adrian Moorhouse.
Stephen K. Lundquist is an American former competition swimmer who is an Olympic gold medalist and former world record-holder. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he won gold medals in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 400-meter medley relay.

Norbert Rózsa is a former breaststroker from Hungary, who competed at three consecutive Olympics, beginning with the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. He won two silver medals, in the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke, and became Olympic champion in Atlanta, Georgia, in the 200 m breaststroke.
Tetsuo Hamuro was a Japanese breaststroke swimmer. In 1935 he set a world record in the 200 m. Next year he won the gold medal in this event at the 1936 Olympics, setting a new Olympic record at 2:41.5. Hamuro swam the traditional breaststroke, while some of his competitors used the butterfly stroke, which was allowed at the time. Between 1935 and 1940 Hamuro never lost a race and won ten national breaststroke titles. After World War II he worked for the Mainichi newspaper as a sports journalist. In 1990, he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Erwin Sietas was a German swimmer who specialized in the 200 m breaststroke. He competed at the 1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympics and finished in fourth, fourth and second place, respectively. Sietas was known for his fast start; in 1932 and 1936 he led he race, but faded at the finish. He won three medals at the European championships, including a gold in 1934.
Brian Gregory Job was an American competition swimmer, Olympic medalist, and world record-holder. At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, he won the bronze medal for his third-place finish in the men's 200-meter breaststroke. He later graduated from Harvard Business School.

Kevin Cordes is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in breaststroke events. He currently represents the Cali Condors which is part of the International Swimming League. Cordes was a member of the 2016 U.S. Men's Olympic Swimming Team. He won gold in the 4 × 100 m medley relay as a member of the preliminary relay, and took 4th place in the Men's 100m Breaststroke at the 2016 Olympic Games. He is the former American record holder in the 50-meter and 100-meter breaststroke.
Viktar Aliaksandravich Vabishchevich is a Belarusian swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. He posted a Belarusian record time of 28.03 seconds in the prelims of the men's 50 m breaststroke at the 2012 European Aquatics Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. He also won a bronze medal in the same event at the 2007 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, clocking at 28.62 seconds.
Annabelle Jane Carey is a New Zealand former competitive swimmer, who specialised in breaststroke events. As of 2006, she currently holds a New Zealand record of 1:09.26 in the 100 m breaststroke from the World Championship Trials in Auckland. In the same year she helped out the New Zealand team to pull off a fourth-place effort in the medley relay at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, with a record-breaking time of 4:06.30.

Richard Lockhart is a New Zealand swimmer. He competed in two events at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Lockhart also represented New Zealand in the 1983, 1985 and 1987 World Student Games.
