Silje Schei Tveitdal (born 24 April 1974) is a Norwegian environmentalist and politician for the Socialist Left Party. She served as the party secretary from 2009 to 2015.
Silje Schei Tveitdal was the leader of Natur og Ungdom in 1997 and 1998. Before being leader she had been deputy leader since 1994. After leaving Natur og Ungdom she studied social economics at the University of Oslo and is advisor for the Socialist Left Party member in Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment in the Norwegian legislature.[ citation needed ] She was also chairperson of Zero Emission Resource Organisation (ZERO) from its start in 2002. [1] In 2009 she succeeded Edle Daasvand as party secretary of the Socialist Left Party. [2]

The Socialist Left Party is a democratic socialist political party in Norway. Positioned on the left-wing of the political spectrum,it is opposed to European Union and the European Economic Area membership. SV supports a strong public sector,stronger social welfare programs,environmentalism,and republicanism. He was chairman of Friends of the Earth Norway from 2005 to 2016 after having been deputy chairman from 2003 to 2005. Haltbrekken was also chairman of Natur og Ungdom in 1995 and 1996. In between the two leadership roles,he worked primarily trying to prevent natural gas power plants in Norway,and was chairman of Fellesaksjonen mot gasskraftverk. He grew up in Trondheim.
