Simon Carr (born 7 November 1999) is an Irish former professional tennis player. [2] He had a career high ATP singles ranking of No. 512 achieved on 3 February 2020, and best doubles ranking of No. 507 achieved on 27 September 2021.

Early life and education

Simon Carr is the son of Tommy. [3] He also played Gaelic football and rugby and swam when young but his mother got him into tennis at the age of nine and his grandfather is Seán Purcell. [4] He studied in Mullingar C.B.S. [5]

Career

Carr represented Ireland at the Davis Cup, where he had a W/L record of 12–8. [6] He received his first call-up to play against Denmark in February 2018. [7] [8] Carr announced his retirement from professional tennis in May 2024. [9]

Marat Mubinovich Safin is a Russian former world No. 1 tennis player and former politician. Nicknamed 'Safinator', he achieved the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) top singles ranking on 20 November 2000. Safin began his professional tennis career in 1997, and held the No. 1 ranking for a total of nine weeks between November 2000 and April 2001. Radek Štěpánek is a Czech former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking was world No. 8 and best doubles ranking was world No. 4. Štěpánek's biggest achievements are reaching two Masters 1000 event finals and the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2006, as well as winning the deciding match for Czech Republic's Davis Cup winning team in 2012 and again in 2013.
