The Newbridge College Melaka (previously known as Sinar College) located in the heart of Malacca city is the only college in Malaysia offering a dual diploma program for the price of one.

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the largest professional accounting body in the UK with members in over 170 countries worldwide. Membership of the Association can only be achieved by examination and relevant practical experience. Newbridge College is also examination centre for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the state of Malacca.

Malaysian Skills Certificate

NewbridgeCollege was registered as one of the accredited training centres under Skill Development Department (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resource (Malaysia) on 26 October 2010. This accreditation allows the college to conduct training courses which award trainees with Malaysian Skill Certificate (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia).

Tourist Guide Course

Newbridge College is the only institution in the state of Malacca that offers full range of tourism courses, from tourist guide course (SKM Level 3) to licensing courses for travel agencies, travel and tour enhancement course (TTEC), as well as travel and tour management course (TTMC). For TTEC and TTMC, Kolej Sinar, as a leading member of Association of Tourism Training Institutes of Malaysia (ATTIM), is the training centre for whole southern region that include Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor.

Newbridge College is the only training institute in Malacca that consistently offers Tourist Guide Course. Upon completion, graduates obtain certificate from Kementerian Pelancongan (to apply license as Tourist Guide), Mesra Certificate, and Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 3. Kolej Sinar is approved training centre under Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran of Kementerian Sumber Manusia. It is also approved centre for applying students loan from Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran.

Malaysian Qualification Agency

Newbridge College also conforms with requirement under Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for its professional courses such as Foundation in Accountancy and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as well as for Diploma courses such as Diploma in Accounting and Diploma in Business Administration as well as collaboration Executive Diploma with University of Malaya.

Diploma in Accounting and Diploma in Business Administration

Newbridge college offers own Diploma in Accounting programme which is accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). The full-time course is divided into 4 long semesters and 2 short semesters which covers approximately two and a half years of study. The total fee for the programme is arguably the lowest among Diploma level programme of private higher institutions in Malaysia. Newbridge College also offers Diploma in Business Administration at the same fee.

Accommodation

Initially, Newbridge College only offers courses to nearby residents. As it grows bigger and add more courses into its faculties, students register from whole state of Malacca and some from neighbouring states like Johor and Negeri Sembilan. However, nearly all of its students come from various places in Malacca such as Bandar Hilir, Malacca City, Tengkera, Ayer Keroh, Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah district, Jasin district, Batu Berendam, and other Newbridgeer areas.

Newbridge College is situated at Malacca City.

Newbridge College besides the college building, also own some properties within area such as apartments. Some students stay in the apartments and come to college on foot.

Newbridge College, despite its complete facilities, has no full-time lecturers. All the courses are taught by part-time lecturers who at the same time are active practitioners in their respective fields, either in own companies or holding positions in influential local industries. Furthermore, Newbridge College is also patronised by local Members of Parliament from ruling political party.

Newbridge College has been active in running local and national tourism organisation. Like other courses it offers, Tourist Guide Basic Course Level 3 and Travel and Tour Enhancement Course (TTEC) are also taught by part-time lecturers who are not only active tourism practitioners, but also have engaged in local tourism industry for a very long time. For those students who enroll in the Tourist Guide Basic Course Level 3 and Travel and Tour Enhancement Course (TTEC) with Sinar College, usually have the opportunity to join into the large network as well.

Ministry of Higher Education (Malaysia)

The Ministry of Higher Education, abbreviated MOHE, is ministry of the Government of Malaysia that is responsible for higher education, polytechnic, community college, student loan, accreditation, student volunteer.
