Umberto Eco was an Italian medievalist, philosopher, semiotician, novelist, cultural critic, and political and social commentator. In English, he is best known for his popular 1980 novel The Name of the Rose, a historical mystery combining semiotics in fiction with biblical analysis, medieval studies and literary theory, as well as Foucault's Pendulum, his 1988 novel which touches on similar themes.

Stefano Arduini is a scholar of linguistics, rhetoric, semiotics and translation. He is Full Professor of Linguistics at the University of Rome Link Campus where he is the director the Publishing Professionals Master's degree. He teaches Theory of Translation at the University of Urbino, and is the president of San Pellegrino Unicampus Foundation in Misano Adriatico (Rimini).
Henri Meschonnic was a French poet, linguist, essayist and translator. He is remembered today as both a theoretician of language and as a translator of the Old Testament. The 710-page Critique du rythme, probably remains his most famous theoretical work. As a translator of the Old Testament he published many volumes, including Les cinq rouleaux in 1970 ; Jona et le signifiant errant in 1998 (Jonah); Gloires in 2000 (Psalms); Au commencement in 2002 (Genesis); Les Noms in 2003 (Exodus); Et il a appelé in 2005 (Leviticus); and Dans le désert in 2008 (Numbers).

Salvatore Lorusso is a former professor of Environmental Chemistry and Cultural Heritage in the Department of Cultural Heritage at the University of Bologna, and founder of the journal, Conservation Science in Cultural Heritage. He has also been named a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and an Emeritus Professor of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Zhejiang University in China. In the mid-2010s, Lorusso oversaw the restoration of Buddhist sculptures from the Qingzhou Longxing Temple in Zhejiang. Lorusso has also written on the Shroud of Turin, and several articles on Leonardo da Vinci, particularly on the Mona Lisa, and examining evidence of the Isleworth Mona Lisa also being by Leonardo.
Antonio Scurati is an Italian writer and academic. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Strega Prize for his novel M: Son of the Century (2018).
The Premio Monselice per la traduzione letteraria e scientifica was an Italian award established "to enhance the activity of translation as a particularly important form of cultural communication between peoples".
Translation, aka translation: A transdisciplinary journal, was a biannual peer-reviewed academic journal covering translation studies. Established in 2011, it was published by St. Jerome Publishing, Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, and the San Pellegrino University Foundation. The editor-in-chief was Siri Nergaard. Other members of the founding editorial board were Stefano Arduini, Edwin Gentzler, Valerie Henitiuk, Bob Hodgson, Paul A. Soukup, and Philip Towner.
