"Skeletons" is a song performed by Azerbaijani band Dihaj. The song represented Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. [1] The song was revealed to the public on 11 March 2017, and was released as a digital download on 15 March. [2] The song is composed by Isa Melikov and Sandra Bjurman, who composed the country's 2011 winning entry "Running Scared".

Eurovision Song Contest

Dihaj was confirmed to be the Azerbaijani representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 on 5 December 2016. [3] [4] The music video to her entry, "Skeletons", was later revealed on 11 March 2017. [1] Azerbaijan competed in the first half of the first semi-final at the Eurovision Song Contest [5] [6] in which she qualified to the final. She was 12th in the running order of the grand final and finished in 14th place including 42 points from televote (11th place) and 78 points from the juries (12th place). [7]

Greece participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "This Is Love" written by Dimitris Kontopoulos, Romy Papadea and John Ballard. The song was performed by Demy, who was internally selected by the Greek broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) to represent Greece at the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Demy was announced at the Greek representative on 13 January 2017, while a national final was held in order to select the song she would perform. Three songs competed in the national final on 6 March 2017 and a combination of international jury voting and public voting selected "This Is Love" as the winning song.

Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Israeli broadcaster Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) collaborated with the commercial broadcaster Keshet and Tedy Productions which organised the reality singing competition HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion to select the singer. The song was performed by Jana Burčeska, who was internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Jana Burčeska's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 21 November 2016, while her song, "Dance Alone", was presented to the public during the MRT programme Stisni Plej on 10 March 2017.

Portugal participated in and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Amar pelos dois" written by Luísa Sobral. The song was performed by Salvador Sobral. In August 2016, the Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) announced that they would be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their withdrawal in 2016 due to poor results in previous contests and the broadcaster's insufficient promotion of music-related content. RTP organised the national final Festival da Canção 2017 in order to select the Portuguese entry for the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. After two semi-finals and a final which took place in February and March 2017, "Amar pelos dois" performed by Salvador Sobral emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from seven regional juries and a public televote.
