Sonic the Hedgehog 3:Music from the Motion Picture is the score album for the 2024 film of the same name. It features the original score composed by Tom Holkenborg and was released by Milan Records on December 20,2024.
Tom Holkenborg,who composed the score for the first two Sonic films,returned to score Sonic the Hedgehog 3 [1] and had finished work by July 2024. [2] In December 2023,Crush 40 vocalist Johnny Gioeli said there had been talks of including the song "Live &Learn" from Sonic Adventure 2 (2001) in the film. [3] In February 2024,Gioeli confirmed "Live &Learn" would be included in the film. [4] Jelly Roll released a single for the film,titled "Run It",on November 21,2024. [5] The film also features the song "Neon" from Japanese rock band One Ok Rock,who previously contributed to the soundtrack for the 2022 game Sonic Frontiers . [6] "It's a Sonic Christmas",the song performed by Ruwanga Samath and featured in the promotional short film of the same name,was released on digital platforms on December 13,2024. Cameron Frew of Dexerto called the score "superb",praising its incorporation of video game music and the accompanying licensed tracks. [10] Mike Reyes of CinemaBlend similarly commended the addition of the video games' musical cues,feeling that it enhanced the experience. [11] Matt Donata of The A.V. Club said "Shadow’s motorcycle and handgun combo earn their spotlight,as do the musical cues,none more blissful than Crush 40’s Sonic Adventure 2 theme song "Live &Learn" hitting at a pivotal moment during composer Tom Holkenborg’s third-act crescendo". Sonic Adventure 2 is a 2001 platform game developed by Sonic Team USA and published by Sega for the Dreamcast. It features two good-vs-evil stories: Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, and Knuckles the Echidna attempt to save the world, while Shadow the Hedgehog, Doctor Eggman, and Rouge the Bat attempt to conquer it. The stories are divided into three gameplay styles: fast-paced platforming for Sonic and Shadow, third-person shooting for Tails and Eggman, and action-adventure exploration for Knuckles and Rouge. Like previous Sonic the Hedgehog games, the player completes levels while collecting rings and defeating enemies. Outside the main gameplay, they can interact with Chao, a virtual pet, and compete in multiplayer battles.

Originally known for his trance productions, he has moved to producing electronica and big beat music and film scores. His remix of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" became a worldwide hit in 2002.
Crush 40 is a Japanese-American hard rock band. The group consists of guitarist and composer Jun Senoue and principal vocalist Johnny Gioeli. Crush 40 is best known for their contributions to the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series.

He is a sound director for the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series by Sega and serves as the songwriter of the Japanese-American rock duo Crush 40, which he formed with Johnny Gioeli in 2000.
