Sonroopa Vishal (born 30 October 1977) is an Indian writer, poet and author, who writes in the Hindi language. The State Government of Uttar Pradesh awarded her with the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Navodit Geetkaar Award in 2015 [1] and Jagadish Gupta Sarjana Award in 2019. [2] Sonroopa Vishal has published three books, including Likhna Zaruri Hai (2014) and America Aur 45 Din (2018), and co-authored several books. [3]

Early life and education

She has done an MA in Hindi from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University. She has also studied Music from Dayalbagh Educational Institute and holds a Sangeet Prabhakar (bachelor of music degree) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. She has done a PhD from Rohilkhand University. [4] She is the daughter of famous Hindi poet Dr. Urmilesh Shankhdhar. [1]

Career

Sonroopa published her first poetry collection in 2014 titled, Likhna Zaroori Hai. The book was well received and won the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Navodit Geetkaar Samman by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2015. [1]

Her second book, America Aur 45 Din was published in 2018 by Hindi Yugm. She wrote this travelogue during her stay in the US when she visited a series of poets' conferences organized in 25 cities of the US by the International Hindi Committee. [3] In January 2019, it was launched by Ashok Chakradhar at New Delhi World Book Fair. During the launch, Chakradhar said, that the way Sonroopa has seen America in her journey from this point of view is amazing. She is seen very beautifully threading the emotions and feelings of the mind. [5] In September 2019, she was honoured with the Jagadish Gupta Award for her book America Aur 45 Din by the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan. [3]

Her third book is Pichle Baras Ka Gulmohur, a poetry collection which was published in 2019. [6] She is the editor of Dr. Urmilesh special issue of Saraswati Suman magazine. [4] Her fourth book, Hindi Ghazal Aur Dr. Urmilesh was published in 2021. [7]

Sonroopa Vishal has also co-authored several books and anthologies, including Stri Hokar Saval Karti Hai, Samkaleen Mahila Ghazalkar, Kavita Anvarat and Srajan Ke Sitare. [8] She has recited and performed her poetry during Kavi sammelan at Red Fort, Sahitya Academy, IIT Kharagpur, to various TV channels. [8] Vishal is also an Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India approved vocalist and Ghazal singer. [8]

Namvar Singh was an Indian literary critic, linguist, academician and theoretician. He received his doctorate degree from Banaras Hindu University where he also taught for some time. The list was published on the 75th foundation day of the newspaper.

Her books are included in university Nagpuri studies. She has been awarded Jharkhand Ratna, Praful Samman, Prernasrot Samman by Doordarshan Ranchi, Katha Samman by Government of Jharkhand, Bidushi Samman by Government of Bihar.

Usha Yadav is an Indian educationist, writer of contemporary Hindi literature, and recipient of the Padma Shri award. She has been a faculty member at Central Institute of Hindi, Agra, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, and Kanhaiyalal Maniklal Munshi Institute of Hindi. She is the President of the Literary and Cultural Organization Indradhanush and Secretary of the Oriental Research Institute. Pushpa Bharati is an Indian writer and author known for her contributions to Hindi literature. She has authored 17 books in Hindi Language.

UP Gaurav Samman or Uttar Pradesh Gaurav Samman is a civilian award presented by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, India. It recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields, including arts, culture, literature, education, science, technology, sports, and social service. The award is aimed at honoring excellence and promoting the cultural, intellectual, and economic development of the state and the nation.

Pandit Vanshidhar Shukla was an Indian freedom fighter, politician, and poet of Hindi and Awadhi language. He is best for writing the patriotic song Qadam Qadam Badhaye Ja, which became the regimental quick march of the Indian National Army, banned by the British in India post-World War II but later became a patriotic anthem of India after India's independence.
