Futsal is a football-based sport played on a hardcourt like a basketball court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football.
The South American Football Confederation is the continental governing body of football in South America and it is one of FIFA's six continental confederations. The oldest continental confederation in the world, its headquarters are located in Luque, Paraguay. CONMEBOL is responsible for the organization and governance of South American football's major international tournaments. With 10 member football associations, it has the fewest members of all the confederations in FIFA.
The Peruvian Football Federation is the body that governs Association football in Peru. It was founded on August 23, 1922, and affiliated with FIFA in 1924. It is a member of CONMEBOL since 1925, and directly oversees the Peru national football team, futsal team youth teams, the Copa Federación, and the amateur leagues. The Peruvian National football team has won two Copa América's, six Bolivarian Games titles and qualified for the FIFA World Cup five times.
UEFA competitions, referred improperly by the mass media as European football, are the set of tournaments organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), generally in professional and amateur association football and futsal. The term was established in 1971 by the confederation to differentiate the men's football competitions under its administration, the first in history being held at a pan-European stage, from other international competitions carried out in the continent between 1960s and 1990s, such as the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, International Football Cup and Karl Rappan Cup, Cup of the Alps, Balkans Cup and the restructured Mitropa Cup. All these tournaments were organised by private bodies and/or at least two national associations and concerning one of more regional areas of Europe, not being recognised by UEFA for historic-statistical purposes.

The FIFA Futsal World Cup is an international futsal competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA, the sport's global governing body. Since the first edition that took place in 1989 in the Netherlands, the tournament has been held every four years since 1992 in the even year between two 11-a-side World Cups.

Brazil also holds a record eleven championship wins in the South American Futsal Championship also known as the Copa América de Futsal and five wins in the Taça América de Futsal. As of Semptember 2024, Brazil is ranked first in the Futsal World Rankings. Brazil has played in all 10 FIFA Futsal World Cups and has finished in the top three nine times, reaching the finals seven times and winning six titles, which includes the recent Futsal World Cup in 2024. The team has the best overall performance in the World Cup competition both in proportional and absolute terms. As of 2024, Brazil has a winning record against every nation they have faced in their history, winning over 89% of the matches and losing 5% of them.
The Women's Futsal World Tournament is an international women's futsal competition for national teams, organized by national associations and the World Futsal Association. The first edition took place in 2010 in Spain and was won by Brazil. The tournament has known no other winner besides Brazil, after the country's victories in the first six editions.

She is the Peruvian football and futsal team all-time-top-scorer with 7 and 9 goals respectively. Since 2018 she has been part of the technical staff of the Sporting Cristal women's football team that participates in the Peruvian women's football championship.
The Romania women's futsal team is the national women's futsal team of Romania and is governed by the Romanian Football Federation. Its first two games were in August 2018 against neighboring Moldova, a draw and a win. It first played an official match in the UEFA Women's Futsal Euro 2019 qualifications, Main round, Group 1, where it lost all matches. The team did not play any matches in 2019 or 2020, and it was the only national team that did not enter the UEFA Women's Futsal Euro 2021 qualifications, despite doing so for the previous edition. The team did not return for UEFA Women's Futsal Euro 2023 qualifications either.

The Futsal Finalissima is a quadrennial futsal competition organised by CONMEBOL and UEFA. The tournament is contested by the top two teams of the South American and European futsal championships for men's national teams, the Copa América de Futsal and UEFA Futsal Championship, respectively. The competition was launched in 2022 as part of a renewed partnership between CONMEBOL and UEFA.
