Crioceris, or asparagus beetle, is a genus of the family Chrysomelidae of beetles. The name is Neo-Latin from Greek κριός, ram and κέρας, horn. Not all species in the genus Crioceris feed on asparagus. Some studies have found low genetic diversity among groups of isolated Chrysomelidae, and use Wolbachia species as a genetic marker.

Archaeopteris macilenta is distinguished from other species of the genus by leaves which are divided into narrow segments at their tips. Sporangia were borne on different parts of the branches with ordinary foliage leaves. Archaeopteris macilenta leaves and fertile shoots are attached to wood which when permineralized is called Callixylon newberryi. Archaeopteris is retained in the class Progymnospermopsida which includes plants with gymnospermous anatomy and pteridophytic reproduction.
Pterostylis macilenta is a plant in the orchid family Orchidaceae and is endemic to the Grampians National Park in Victoria. As with similar greenhoods, flowering plants differ from those that are not flowering.
