Review

Tanya Ali from the AU Review gave the EP 9.6 out of 10, praising the sophistication, growth and song writing maturation saying; "Throughout the whole EP, lyrics are a very strong point and it is clear that Mitchell is a very capable songwriter, tackling deep emotions and issues with tact and poeticism.". [1] Simon Ubaldi from Beat Magazine said it was an interesting step forward by Mitchell, complemented the vocals but said it "lacks real spirit." [2]

Kevin Mitchell (musician)

Lisa Mitchell

Lisa Helen Mitchell is an English-born Australian singer-songwriter who grew up in Albury, New South Wales. Mitchell currently lives in Melbourne and is working on her fourth studio album. Mitchell finished sixth in the 2006 season of Australian Idol. Her debut extended play, Said One to the Other, topped iTunes in Australia and she signed with London-based publisher, Little Victories, a subsidiary of Sony/ATV. By 2008 Mitchell had relocated to the UK where she recorded her debut studio album, Wonder, which peaked at No. 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart. She won the 2009 Australian Music Prize of $30,000 for the album. Mitchell returned to Australia to live in Melbourne. Her second album, Bless This Mess reached No. 7. In March 2015, Mitchell's last single "Wah Ha" was remixed by electronic trio Seekae. Her third album Warriors was released on 16 October 2016 and debuted Top 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Australian Idol was a televised talent contest, screened on Channel Ten for seven seasons between 2003 and 2009. Several contestants were signed to record labels, while others released their music independently. Since 2003 Australian Idol acts have placed well on the Australian music charts, with 34 number ones and 154 platinum and 39 gold certifications. Eight Idol releases appeared in the 2000 – 2009 ARIA End of Decade Charts, and 24 releases have been nominated for Highest Selling ARIA Music Awards. Idol contestants have also been nominated for 32 ARIA Awards in public vote categories, where the nominees are most commonly selected from the highest selling acts of the year. There have also been 46 industry judged ARIA Award nominations. To date there have been ten wins in sales and public vote categories, and in 2013 season one winner Guy Sebastian and season four runner up Jessica Mauboy became the first Idol contestants to win industry voted ARIA Awards.

Paul Reid, formerly Paul Gary James Ridge,, better known by the stage name Drapht, is an Australian hip hop artist from Perth. Drapht is a member of the Syllabolix (SBX) crew, a collective that includes fellow Perth-based hip hop artists such as Downsyde.

Angus & Julia Stone Australian brother & sister duo folk, indie pop group

Angus & Julia Stone are an Australian folk and indie pop group, formed in 2006 by brother and sister Angus and Julia Stone. Angus & Julia Stone have released four studio albums: A Book Like This (2007), Down the Way (2010), Angus & Julia Stone (2014), and Snow (2017). At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010, they won five awards from nine nominations: Album of the Year, Best Adult Alternative Album, Best Cover Art and Producer of the Year for Down the Way, and Single of the Year for "Big Jet Plane". The siblings have issued two solo albums each.

Matt Corby Australian singer-songwriter

Matthew John Corby is an Australian singer-songwriter. He achieved his commercial breakthrough with his fourth EP, Into the Flame (2011), which peaked at No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart, and by April 2012, was certified 6× Platinum by ARIA. His 2011 single "Brother" and his 2013 single "Resolution" both won ARIA Music Awards for Song of the Year. He is the 26th Australian male singer and the 100th Australian act to reach the number one position on the ARIA albums chart with his debut album Telluric (2016).

The Jezabels Australian indie rock band

The Jezabels are an Australian indie rock band formed in Sydney in 2007. They consist of Hayley Mary on lead vocals, Heather Shannon on piano and keyboard, Nik Kaloper on drums and percussion, and Sam Lockwood on lead guitar. They have described their genre as "intensindie" but later said that this was just a joke that they put up on a social networking site, though people took them seriously.

"Everyone's Waiting" is the second single from Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins' third album, The Ol' Razzle Dazzle. It was the most commercially successful single from the album, peaking at No. 11 on the Australian ARIA Chart and was certified platinum. Higgins performed the song at the 2012 ARIA Awards, where the single won the award for "Best Video"

"Gotcha" is a song recorded by Australian singer and songwriter Jessica Mauboy for the soundtrack album The Sapphires to the 2012 musical film of the same name, in which Mauboy stars as Julie McCrae. The song was written by Mauboy, Louis Schoorl and Ilan Kidron, and produced by The Schoolkids. It was released as the lead single from the soundtrack album on 13 July 2012. Musically, "Gotcha" is an upbeat pop and swing dance song, which incorporates influences of motown and elements of 1960s music.

"Hurricane" is a song by American recording artist Bridgit Mendler, from her debut studio album, Hello My Name Is... (2012). The song was released as a promotional single to the iTunes Store as Single of the Week on October 22, 2012, and was later announced to be the second single from the album. On February 12, 2013, the song was released to Top 40 radio.

Harley Edward Streten, known professionally as Flume, is an Australian musician, DJ and record producer. His self-titled debut studio album, Flume, was released on 9 November 2012 to positive reviews, topping the ARIA Albums Chart and reaching double-platinum accreditation in Australia. Flume is regarded as the pioneer of future bass who helped popularize the genre.

Spiritus (song)

"Spiritus" is a song performed and written by Australian singer–songwriter Lisa Mitchell. The song was released on 27 March 2012 as the lead single from her third extended play, Spiritus. It was also included on her second studio album, Bless This Mess. The track peaked at number 91 on the ARIA Chart.

I had this huge burst of creativity, got really inspired and just wrote them all." It was released on 27 June 2014 via EMI Music Australia.

<i>7 Axes</i> 2011 EP by Diesel

7 Axes is an extended play (EP) by Australian singer songwriter Diesel. It was released in February 2011 and sees Diesel paying homage to the artists and musicians that have inspired him. The EP follows a national tour which Diesel completed in November 2010. Diesel toured this EP in March and April 2011.

<i>Warriors</i> (Lisa Mitchell album) 2016 studio album by Lisa Mitchell

Warriors is the third studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell. It was released in Australia and New Zealand on 14 October 2016. The album was produced by Eric Dubowsky. The album was announced on 2 August 2016, with Mitchell stating: "This album is personal. There's a lot of thinking about my own kind of mythology – of myself, my life, why things are the way they are. And a lot of it is to do with childhood." Additionally, Mitchell told auspOp the album will be "sonically different" and dance had infiltrated her writing, adding "We really got rid of a lot of guitar and piano in this album."

<i>Rüfüs</i> (Blue EP) 2012 EP by RÜFÜS

Rüfüs Blue is the second extended play (EP) by Australian alternative dance group RÜFÜS. The EP was released independently on 6 April 2012. The EP peaked at number 325 on the ARIA Singles Chart on 28 May 2012.
