Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Flag Officer Sea Training.
Maddula grew up in Hyderabad and was schooled at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet (HPS). He belonged to the batch of 1989 at HPS. He then joined and graduated from the National Defence Academy.
Maddula was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1993. In June 1998, the Fast attack craft (FAC) T-80 was commissioned at Mumbai. It was built in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries and Goa Shipyard Limited. As a young lieutenant, Maddula was the commissioning commanding officer of the FAC. [1]
Maddula attended the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, USA where he completed the staff course. He commanded the Vidyut-class missile boat INS Nipat (K86), part of the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron (Killer squadron). He later commanded the lead ship of her-class of guided-missile frigates INS Godavari (F20), and her sister ship INS Ganga (F22). [2]
Maddula attended the Naval War College, Goa. He then appointed commanding officer of the Talwar-class stealth guided-missile frigates INS Trikand (F51). Under his command, Trikand participated in Exercise Cutlass Express in early 2019. The exercise is conducted in the Western Indian Ocean by the United States Naval Forces Europe and Africa. [3] [4]
Promoted to the rank of Commodore, Maddula moved to naval headquarters as Commodore (Intelligence). In this appointed he headed the Directorate of Naval Intelligence, under the Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation and Intelligence). In April 2024, he represented India at the Maritime Security Conference at Bahrain. The conference was organised by the Combined Maritime Forces, Bahrain. [5]
Maddula was promoted to flag rank in August 2024 and was appointed Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) at Kochi. The FOST functions under the operational and administrative jurisdiction of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command. As FOST, his charter included the conduct of the operational sea training of all ships of the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. It includes enhancing crew proficiency in all aspects, including safe navigation practices, damage control and firefighting drills, weapon firings as well as seamanship training. [2]

The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff, a four-star admiral, commands the navy. As a blue-water navy, it operates significantly in the Persian Gulf Region, the Horn of Africa, the Strait of Malacca, and routinely conducts anti-piracy operations and partners with other navies in the region. It also conducts routine two to three month-long deployments in the South and East China seas as well as in the western Mediterranean sea simultaneously.
INS Rana is a Rajput-class destroyer in active service with the Indian Navy. She was commissioned on 28 June 1982.
Admiral Arun Prakash, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, VSM is a former Flag Officer of the Indian Navy. Theatre Level Operational Readiness Exercise (TROPEX) is an inter-service military exercise involving the participation of the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and the Coast Guard. The exercise generally commences at the beginning of each year and lasts a month. It is generally carried out in three phrases: independent workup phase, joint workup phase and tactical phase.
Admiral Radhakrishnan Hari Kumar is retired flag officer in the Indian Navy. He served as 25th Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS). Previously, he served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. In his prior appointments, he served as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Chief of Personnel, Controller Personnel Services, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, Flag Officer Sea Training and the Chief of the Staff of the Western Naval Command. He was the Commandant of the Naval War College, Goa and served as a naval advisor to the government of Seychelles. He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, the Naval War College, the Army War College, Mhow and the Royal College of Defence Studies.
Vice Admiral Murlidhar Sadashiv Pawar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired officer of the Indian Navy. He served as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff. He assumed office from Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar on 30 January 2019 and served till 31 May 2021 till his retirement. He is succeeded by Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh. Prior to this appointment, he served as chief of staff, Eastern Naval Command.
Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, AVSM, VSM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Vice Chief of Naval Staff. He took over as the 39th Vice Chief of Naval staff on 1 May 2024. He previously served as Chief of Personnel. He earlier served as the Controller of Personnel Services, Chief of Staff of the Western Naval Command, Flag Officer Defence Advisory Group (FODAG), Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet (FOCWF) and Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST). He was the second Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, AVSM, NM is a serving flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command. He previously served as the 37th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff and as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations) at IDS HQ.
Vice Admiral Makarand Aravind Hampiholi, PVSM, AVSM, NM is a former flag officer in the Indian Navy. He last served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command. Previously, he served as the Commandant of Indian Naval Academy and served as the Director General Naval Operations (DGNO) at Naval headquarters.

The Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) is a training organisation in the Indian Navy. FOST is the authority responsible for the operational sea training of all personnel of Indian Naval and Coast Guard ships and submarines. The organisation was instituted in 1992 and is the common authority to maintain battle efficiency standards. It also provides training to navies and maritime security forces of friendly foreign countries (FFC). Headquartered in Kochi, the FOST operates under the control of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command.
Vice Admiral John Colin De Silva, PVSM, AVSM was a flag officer in the Indian Navy. He last served as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) from 2001 to 2002. He also served as the 11th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, which he led from 1999 to 2001. He was the commissioning commanding officer of the Rajput-class guided-missile destroyer INS Ranvijay (D55). After retiring from the Navy, he served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Overseas Employment Agency, an agency set up by the Government of Goa.

Vice Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, NM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Director General Project Seabird. He earlier served as the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, Commandant of the Naval War College, Goa, Flag Officer Sea Training and commanded the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (R33) from 2019 to 2020.
Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area. He earlier served as the Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area, and as the Naval adviser to the High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom at India House, London.
Rear Admiral Susheel Menon, VSM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. He earlier served as the Flag Officer Sea Training and commanded the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (R33) from 2021 to 2023.
Rear Admiral C. R. Praveen Nair, NM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Commandant of Indian Naval Academy. He last served as the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet. He earlier commanded the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (R33) and was the commissioning commanding officer of the guided missile destroyer INS Chennai (D65).
