St. Patrick's Catholic Church is a historic Roman Catholic church on the east side of Hwy. 90 in Loxley, Alabama, United States. It was built in 1924 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. [1] [2] The Loxley Public Library currently occupies the building. [3]
Originally dedicated to Saint Raphael, it was one of four small mission churches in central Baldwin County built to serve Catholic immigrant workers, many from the Midwest. [1] In 1974, St. Raphael, St. Gabriel in Summerdale, St. Matthew in Elsanor, and Infant Jesus of Prague in Silverhill were closed and the congregations merged into the new parish of St. Patrick, which is located centrally in Robertsdale, AL. Saint Mary's Catholic Church is a former parish of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The church is located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States, at the corner of 15th and White Streets. The church is recognizable by its steeple– one of the tallest in the area. The designation also included the rectory, which was partially torn down in 2009. The complex was also listed on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties in 1992 as St. Anthony's Church Square. The property has been known historically as Church Square. In 2020 the parish buildings, except for the parish center, were included as contributing properties in the Davenport Downtown Commercial Historic District. Because of its recent construction date, the parish center is excluded as a contributing property.
