St John the Evangelist's Church, Knypersley is the parish church of Knypersley [1] in the Staffordshire Moorlands district of Staffordshire, England. It is located on Tunstall Road/A527 road south of the town of Biddulph, overlooking the town and valley on a hill. [2] The church is recorded as a Grade II listed building by Historic England in November 1987. [3]
The church was built between 1848 and 1851 [4] as a gift from the local Bateman family, coal miners and industrialists in the village during the 19th century. [5] The church was originally built for the town of Biddulph parish but in 1922, became the parish church for Knypersley. [6]
Today, the church remains an active place of worship and community gathering for the village locals, tourists and residents in the surrounding area. [7]
