The Sligo County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Sligo GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Sligo. The county board is also responsible for the Sligo county teams.
Kilcock is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in Kilcock, County Kildare, Ireland, winner of five Kildare Senior Football Championship: and Kildare club of the year in 1982. Located on the border with County Meath, Kilcock has a long and proud tradition of Gaelic Games. Barnes Murphy, is a former Gaelic footballer who represented the Sligo county team during the 1970s and 1980s. Aside from winning a GAA All Stars Award in 1974, he won a Connacht Senior Football Championship medal with Sligo in 1975 when he both captained and coached Sligo the same year. Murphy played football for Connacht many times in his career and his talent was duly recognized by the Connacht Railway Cup management in 1976 when he was selected as the first and only Sligo man to captain his province.
Charlie Harrison is an Irish sportsperson from County Sligo. He plays Gaelic football for his club St John's and at senior level for the Sligo county team. In 2010, he was given an All Star, a particularly unusual achievement for a Sligo player. Only three others had managed this before him [Mickey Kearins, Barnes Murphy and Eamon O'Hara].

This is a round-up of the 1996 Sligo Intermediate Football Championship. Ballymote won their second title in four years after defeating Mullinabreena in the decider. At the end of this year the re-structuring of the adult grades saw the Intermediate grade reduced to ten teams, resulting in four teams being relegated from both League and Championship, namely St. Farnan's, Owenmore Gaels, St. Michael's and Maugherow, while the previous year's Junior champions, Tubbercurry, were also demoted.

James Kearins is a former Gaelic footballer who played for St Patrick's and at senior level for the Sligo county team, later a manager, working as a guard. He played for Sligo for 13 years, from 1974 until 1987.
