The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) is the Kolkata-based flagship company of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, born from the erstwhile RPG Group, under the chairmanship of businessman Sanjiv Goenka. It is an Indian electricity generation and the sole distribution company serving 567 square kilometres (219 sq mi) of area administered by the Kolkata municipal corporation, in the city of Kolkata, as well as parts of Howrah, Hooghly, 24 Parganas (North) and 24 Parganas (South) districts in the state of West Bengal. It also serves power distribution in Kota, Bikaner and Bharatpur in Rajasthan under the name CESC RAJASTHAN. It serves 3.0 million consumers approximately, which includes domestic, industrial and commercial users.

The Mahanirmiti or Mahagenco formerly known as MSEB is a major power generating company in the state of Maharashtra, India and a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharashtra State Electricity Board. Koradi Thermal Power Station (KTPS) is located at Koradi near Nagpur, Maharashtra. The power plant is one of the four major power plants in Vidarbha – a power surplus region of India. The power station began operations in 1974 and is one of the nine active power stations operated by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Prajot), a subsidiary of Government of Maharashtra owned Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB). The plant operates 4 units and has a total power generation capacity of 2190 MW. A proposed 440 kilovolt high power transmission line from Koradi to Bhusawal would join Nagpur with Mumbai. KTPS campus also contains training institute of MahaGenco for middle and senior level engineers, technicians and other staff.
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is the electricity generating and distributing company of the Government of Punjab state in India. It was formerly known as Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) which was unbundled by the government of Punjab into two companies on 16 April 2010 as Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (POWERCOM) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd. (TRANSCO).

Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC) is the only thermal power generating company owned by the Government of Odisha. It was incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 on 14 November 1984. OPGC started as a solely owned Government Company of the state of Odisha. It owns and operates four units of power plant- 2 units of 210 MW each and 2 units of 660 MW, each totaling a generation capacity of 1740 MW of power at Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS), Banharpali in Jharsuguda District of Odisha. The generation from these units is committed to GRIDCO on the basis of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.
The Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line is a railway line in eastern India. It connects Jharsuguda,516 km (321 mi) from Howrah on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line, and Titlagarh, which in turn is connected with Vizianagaram, 820 km (510 mi) from Howrah on the Howrah–Chennai main line, and Raipur Junction, 830 km (516 mi) from Howrah on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line. There are several branch lines, like the 176 km (109 mi) line connecting Rayagada with Koraput on the Kothavalasa–Kirandul line. The line traverses Western Odisha and connects the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line with the Howrah–Chennai main line. It covers small portions of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), formerly Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) is a state-owned electricity regulation board operating within the state of Bihar in India. BSEB was established in 1958 as a statutory corporation under the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948. As of November 2012, BSEB has nearly 1,700 officers and 14,850 employees. The derated capacity comes to just 530 MW. The BSEB was unbundled on 2 August 2011. Power Finance Corporation was the main consultant for BSEB's restructuring.
Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant or Sasan UMPP is one of the four Ultra Mega Power Projects awarded by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It is located in Sasan village near Waidhan in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. Sasan UMPP is India's largest integrated power generation and coal mine project with 3,960 MW power plant and 20 MT per year coal mining capacity. It is presently the 4th largest electricity generation power plant in India after NTPC Vindhyachal, Mundra Thermal Power and Mundra UMPP. The total project value of Sasan UMPP is ₹25,186 crores.
Jharsuguda Power Station is a coal-based thermal power plant located at Burkhamunda near Jharsuguda town in Jharsuguda district in the Indian state of Odisha. The power plant is operated by the Sterlite Energy.
Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) is a coal-based thermal power plant located near Jharsuguda town in Jharsuguda district in the Indian state of Odisha. The power plant is operated by the state owned Orissa Power Generation Corporation.
Talwandi Sabo Power Project is a coal-based super-critical thermal power plant located in Banawala village in Mansa district in the Indian state of Punjab. The power plant is operated by Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), a subsidiary of Vedanta. The engineering, procurement and construction contract is given to SEPCO1 of People's Republic of China.
