Steven Dubois (born May 1, 1997) is a Canadian short-track speed skater. [1]

Career

Junior

At the 2016 World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Sofia. Bulgaria, Dubois won the bronze medal in the 500 m event. [2] [3]

Senior

Dubois joined Canada's World Cup team for the first time in 2017 and was a reserve for the 2018 Winter Olympics. [1] His first full season as part of the World Cup team was in the 2018–19 season, winning bronze in three of the World Cup stops in the 1500 m event. [4] [5] [6]

The following season, Dubois would win his first individual World Cup race, the 500 m event in Dresden, among a silver and two bronze individual (versus team) medals he won at other stops during the season. [1] [7] [8]

At the 2020 Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships, the first edition of the event, Dubois won silver in all five events (500 m, 1000m, 1500 m, 5000 m relay and overall). [1] [9] [10]

At the 2021 Canadian Short Track Speed Skating Championships, Dubois took top place. [11]

On January 18, 2022, Dubois was named to Canada's 2022 Olympic team. [12] [13] [14] [15] At the Olympics, Dubois won the silver medal in the 1,500 metres event. Kim Boutin is a Canadian short track speed skater. Boutin won silver in the 1,000 m and bronze in the 500 m and 1,500 m events at the 2018 Winter Olympics at Pyeonchang, Korea. She was the first Canadian female short track speed skater to win three individual Olympic medals in a single Olympics and the first Canadian woman to win an Olympic medal in the 1,500 m. As a result of her three medal performance she was named the flag bearer for Canada at the closing ceremonies for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Boutin has also won junior and senior world championship and World Cup medals.

Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics Sporting event delegation

Canada competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics. The 2022 Winter Olympics were held in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. Canada has competed at all 24 editions of the Winter Olympics.

The men's 1500 metres competition in short track speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 9 February, at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Hwang Dae-heon of South Korea became the Olympic champion, this was his first Olympic gold. Steven Dubois of Canada won silver, his first Olympic medal, and Semion Elistratov, representing the Russian Olympic Committee, bronze. Due to unusually high number of penalties and advancements in semi-finals, 10 athletes were competing in Final A.

The men's 5000 metre relay competition in short track speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held on 11 February (semifinals) and 16 February (finals), at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing. The Canadian team won gold, with South Korea winning silver and Italy the bronze.
