Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, known professionally as Hemant Kumar and Hemanta Mukherjee, was a legendary Indian music director and playback singer who primarily sang in Bengali and Hindi, as well as other Indian languages like Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Assamese, Tamil, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Konkani, Sanskrit and Urdu. He was an artist of Bengali and Hindi film music, Rabindra Sangeet, and many other genres. He was the recipient of two National Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and was popularly known as the "voice of God".

Nishi Padma(English: The night lotus) is a 1970 Indian Bengali language drama film co-written and directed by Arabinda Mukhopadhyay. It is based on a short story Hinger Kochuri by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay. Produced by Shantimoy Banerjee under the banner of Chirantan Chitra, it stars Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee and Anup Kumar in lead roles, while Nripati Chatterjee, Jahar Roy, Gita Dey and Gangapada Basu play another pivotal roles. The soundtrack album and background music of the film was composed by Nachiketa Ghosh, with lyrics penned by Gouriprasanna Mazumder. It revolves around Pushpa, whose uncle forcefully sells her to a brothel in Calcutta. On her first night there, an unhappy married man named Ananda falls in love with her over her singing abilities and decides to visit her regularly.

Byomkesh was a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The series starred Gaurav Chakrabarty, Saugata Bandyopadhyay and Ridhima Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ajit and Satyabati respectively.
