Studio Roqovan (formally known as Reload Studios) was an American independent game and VR development studio made up of former Infinity Ward and Disney employees. It is headquartered in Los Angeles. [1]

History

Reload Studios was founded by James Chung (CEO) & Taehoon Oh (COO), former employees from Pixar, Disney, and Infinity Ward [2] [3] soon followed to form the core team. [4]

In March 2015, Reload Studios's launched debut title in development, World War Toons, is a class-based multiplayer shooter for VR and consoles. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

In 2015, Reload Studios received $2 million [10] and $4 million in funding from World Innovation Lab and other venture capitalists. [11]

In September 2015, Reload Studios launched a non-gaming virtual reality division named Rascali. For their first project, they worked with WoofbertVR to make a virtual re-creation of the Wolfson room from The Courtauld Gallery in London. [12] [13]

In October 2016, Reload Studios rebrand as Studio Roqovan, result of the company growing and reaching for larger corporate goals. [14]

In March 2019, CEO James Chung announced the closer of the studio. [15]

World War Toons

World War Toons is a multiplayer VR first-person shooter featuring cartoonish World War II soldiers battling in maps in Europe or Africa releasing in October 2016 for both VR and non-VR platforms. [16] [17] [18] The cartoony, class-based shooter sees players battle for supremacy as either the indomitable Axis or the powerful Allies. The game supports variety of play style models. [19]

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a 2007 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is the fourth main installment in the Call of Duty series. The game breaks away from the World War II setting of previous entries and is instead set in modern times. Doom is a 2016 first-person shooter game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the first major installment in the Doom series since 2004's Doom 3. Players take the role of an unnamed space marine, known as the "Doom Slayer", as he battles demonic forces from Hell that have been unleashed by the Union Aerospace Corporation within their energy-mining facility on Mars. The gameplay returns to a faster pace with more open-ended levels, closer to the first two games than the slower survival horror approach of Doom 3. It is the sixth installment in the Call of Duty series and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It was released worldwide on November 10, 2009, for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. A separate version for the Nintendo DS, titled Modern Warfare: Mobilized, was also released on the same day. A version for OS X was developed by Aspyr and released in May 2014, and the Xbox 360 version was made backward compatible for the Xbox One in 2018.

nDreams Video game company

nDreams, Ltd. is a company that develops and publishes video games. It is located in Farnborough, Hampshire in the United Kingdom. The company was formed in August 2006 by former SCi and Eidos creative director, Patrick O'Luanaigh. Since formation, the developer has worked on numerous projects for different video game platforms, initially PlayStation Home, the virtual world on Sony's PlayStation 3 console, where they grew to become one of the leading publishers. From late 2013 nDreams began working on content for virtual reality (VR) headsets, such as Sony's PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR. nDreams has stated that they are now entirely focused on developing content for virtual reality.

It handled the development and publishing of virtual reality and augmented reality titles, as well as the development of 20th Century Studios's theme and amusement parks. The division's president was Salil Mehta, a former executive from NBCUniversal and The Walt Disney Company, who has been with Fox since 2013 who later returned to Disney after Disney acquired Fox in 2019 until on January 23, 2020, when the company was sold to Scopely.

Taehoon Oh is a computer graphic specialist, game designer and developer. He is a co-founder and COO at Studio Roqovan, formerly known as Reload Studios. He was a lead artist and was one of the pioneer developers of the Call of Duty game franchise. He is also one of the co-founders of the non-gaming virtual reality subdivision of Studio Roqovan called Rascali, launched in September 2015.

It is a sequel to the game Death Horizon, which came out on September 21, 2017 for the Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR platforms.
