Su Li-wen (Chinese :蘇麗文; pinyin :Sū Lìwén; born 13 December 1980) is a Taiwanese taekwondo practitioner. [1] She won gold medals for the lightweight (63 kg) category at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, and at the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand.
Su represented Chinese Taipei at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed and played for the women's 57 kg category. She aggravated a left knee injury in her first round defeat to South Korea's Lim Su-Jeong, who scored only a single point. Because her opponent advanced further into the final for a gold medal match, Su qualified for the repechage bout, where she scored a single point and defeated New Zealand's Robin Cheong. In the bronze medal match, Su continued fighting despite falling to the mat for eleven times in visible pain, having suffered from a sustained foot injury, and being advised by her coach to stop. She tied with Croatia's Martina Zubčić for a score of 4–4 in the first three rounds, but lost a match by a decisive point in the fourth and final round. [2] Su was carried from the mat by her coach, and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. [3]
Su finished fifth in the women's taekwondo tournament, yet she was widely regarded as the nation's most outstanding athlete at the Olympics, lauded by fans and politicians for her fighting spirit and display of sportsmanship. [2] President Ma Ying-jeou immediately called her to express his admiration of courage, fortitude, and perseverance she had demonstrated in the match. [3]

International-known athletes include Jeremy Lin, Tai Tzu-ying, Kuo Hsing-chun, Yu Chang, Chien-Ming Wang, Lin Yun-ju, Yang Chuan-kwang, Chou Tien-chen, Hsieh Su-wei, and Yani Tseng among others.
The event of Taekwondo competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held in Beijing. It was held between August 20th and August 23rd at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. The event consisted of various athletes, there were 128 Taekwondo practitioners, consisting of 64 men and 64 women. These athletes competed in 8 events, where for the first time ever, two bronze medals were awarded per event.

Jade Louise Jones is a Welsh taekwondo athlete. She is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medallist in the women's 57 kg category, and the 2019 World champion, 2016, 2018 and 2021 European champion and both 2015 European Games and 2023 European Games champion at the same weight, the only two-time gold medalist at her weight in the history of those Games. In 2012, she won Britain's first taekwondo Olympic gold medal. Jones was at the time the reigning Youth Olympic champion in the girls' 55 kg category, winning gold for Great Britain in 2010.
Yang Shu-chun or Judy Yang is a female Taiwanese taekwondo athlete. She won the women's flyweight gold medal at the 2008 Asian Taekwondo Championships.

Elaine Teo Shueh Fhern is a Malaysian Taekwondo exponent. She is a holder of a 4th dan Taekwondo Black Belt from Korea and 5th dan Malaysia. She has represented Malaysia from 1999-2011 in various international tournaments. Her experience as a professional Taekwondo exponent has placed her on the pedestal of honour nationally and internationally. One of her most memorable experience was being the first Taekwondo exponent in Malaysia to qualify twice for the Olympic Games.
Gladys Alicia Mora Romero is a Colombian taekwondo practitioner. She is a two-time Olympian, and a four-time medalist at the Pan American Taekwondo Championships. She also won a bronze medal for the 51 kg class at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia.
Chinese Taipei competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. "Chinese Taipei" is the designated name used by Taiwan to participate in some international organizations and almost all sporting events, including the Olympic Games. Neither the common name "Taiwan" nor the official name "Republic of China" would be used due primarily to opposition from the People's Republic of China. This was also the region's ninth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics.

He captured a bronze medal in the 72-kg division at the 2003 World Taekwondo Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and attained top seven finishes in two editions of the Olympic Games, representing his naturalized nation Austria. Caliskan is also a full-fledged member of Baden Taekwondo Club and Austrian taekwondo squad, under head coach and master Mustafa Atalar.
Daniela Castrignano is an Italian taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's heavyweight category. She obtained a total of nine medals in her sporting career, including one Gold and two silvers at the European Championships and a bronze in the over-72 kg division at the 2007 World Taekwondo Championships in Beijing. Castrignano was also selected to compete for the Italian taekwondo squad at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she placed fifth in the women's heavyweight category (+67 kg). Throughout her sporting career, Castrignano trained for Team Perulli in her native Lecce under head coach and master Giuseppe Perulli.
Sangina Baidya is a retired Nepalese taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the women's flyweight category. She won the Gold medal in the Flyweight−47 kg division at the 1996 Asian Taekwondo Championships in Melbourne,Australia.She retrieved a bronze medal in the 51-kg division at the 2000 Asian Taekwondo Championships in Hong Kong, China, and attained a seventh-place finish at the 2004 Summer Olympics, representing her nation Nepal. Before her sporting career ended in 2009, Baidya trained for Central Dojang Taekwondo Club in her native Kathmandu, under her personal coach Nastu Bahadur Bisural.
Hatice Kübra İlgün is a Turkish taekwondo practitioner. She has won a silver medal at the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships in the featherweight division.
Taiwan competed under the designated name "Chinese Taipei" at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also the nation's tenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics.
