The Suceava (Ukrainian : Сучава - Suchava) is a river located in the north-east of Romania (Suceava County) and western Ukraine (Chernivtsi Oblast). It is a right tributary of the river Siret. [1]

Ukrainian is an East Slavic language. It is the official state language of Ukraine and first of two principal languages of Ukrainians; it is one of the three official languages in the unrecognized state of Transnistria, the other two being Romanian and Russian. Written Ukrainian uses a variant of the Cyrillic script.

River Natural flowing watercourse

A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Romania is a country located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. It borders the Black Sea to the southeast, Bulgaria to the south, Ukraine to the north, Hungary to the west, Serbia to the southwest, and Moldova to the east. It has a predominantly temperate-continental climate. With a total area of 238,397 square kilometres (92,046 sq mi), Romania is the 12th largest country and also the 7th most populous member state of the European Union, having almost 20 million inhabitants. It rises from the Obcina Mestecăniș Mountains in Bukovina, near the border with Ukraine. The total length of the Suceava from its source to its confluence with the Siret 21 km south-east of the city of Suceava, near the village of Liteni, is 173 km (107 mi). [2] :16 Its basin area is 2,625 km2 (1,014 sq mi), [3] of which 2,298 km2 (887 sq mi) in Romania. [2]

Mestecăniș Ridge is a range of mountains in Romania. Geologically they belong to the Moldavian-Muntenian Carpathians group of the Outer Eastern Carpathians subprovince. Within Romania, however, it is traditional to divide the Eastern Carpathians into three geographical groups instead. The Romanian categorization includes Mestecăniș Ridge within the northern Carpathians of Maramureș and Bukovina. The Suceava River emerges from these mountains. The highest peak is Lucina, at 1,588 m. It is part of the Ridges of Bukovina.

The Tur is a tributary of the Tisza River. Its sources are located in the Oaș Mountains in Romania. The Tur starts at the confluence of its headwaters, the Gorova and Turișor. It then flows through Satu Mare County in Romania. The main town on the Tur is Turulung, The river then forms the border between Romania and Ukraine on a reach of 5.2 km, and the border between Romania and Hungary for 1.1 km. The Tur joins the Tisza river near Szatmárcseke in Hungary. Its basin size is 1,144 km2 (442 sq mi).

The Șomuzul Mare River is a right tributary of the river Siret in Romania. It discharges into the Siret near Dolhasca. It flows through the villages Stroiești, Zaharești, Liteni, Pocoleni, Fălticeni (city), Șoldănești, Huși, Preutești, Basarabi, Arghira, Dolheștii Mari, Dolheștii Mici and Dolhasca (town). The Șomuz and Pocoleni dams are built on this river.

Its upper course, above the confluence with the Martin, is sometimes called Mălușel.

The Moldavian Plateau or Pokutian-Bessarabian Upland is a geographic area spanning northeast Romania, most of Moldova, and most of the Chernivtsi Oblast of Ukraine.
