Sun Haven is a 2023 cozy farm sim, RPG video game developed and published by American indie studio Pixel Sprout Studios. The video game was released in March 11, 2023, and is due to release on the Nintendo Switch in the Americas in November 29, 2024. It has similarities to other farm sims, especially Stardew Valley and My Time at Sandrock .
Sun Haven is a farm sim video game where players can farm, fish, mine, combat and romance NPCs, similar to Stardew Valley and My Time at Sandrock. Players start off with a cutscene with Lynn, and then move on to the train. A blackout then occurs on board the train with all the lights going out. Once the player arrives in the town of Sun Haven, they would then have the option of placing their house anywhere on their farm. Players even have the option to marry Lucia, the leader of Sun Haven. [1] Unlike many other farm sims, this one doesn't have stamina. [2] In addition to Sun Haven, this game features three other towns that the player will discover.
Pixel Sprout Studios is an American indie studio, based in Los Angeles. As of November 2024, this was the only game they worked on. [3] It was initially on early access at June 25, 2021, before fully releasing on March 11, 2023. [4] It was initially due to be in early access for six months. [4] The game is due to enter the Nintendo Switch on November 29, 2024 in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru. [5] However, cross-platform play will initially not be available, alongside multiplayer. [5] There are also further plans to release this game onto other consoles in the forseeable future. [6]
Sun Haven has received favorable reviews from critics and has often been compared to Stardew Valley . An early access review from PCGamesN that "the world has awoken to the charm of this particular hybrid between RPG games and farming games". [4] Another early access review from RPGFan stated that the game is a "mystical world" which is "inviting, endearing, and quite original". [7] Meanwhile, after full release, Anna Koselke on GamesRadar+ states that this game is pretty much like Stardew Valley, but more magical and fantastic. [8] WIRED states that the game is 'cozy' and that "the storyline is rich". [9]

Stardew Valley is an open-ended game, allowing players to grow crops, raise livestock, fish, cook, mine, forage, and socialize with the townspeople, including the ability to marry and have children. My Time at Portia is a 2019 farm life sim role-playing video game developed by Chinese studio Pathea Games and published by Team17. It was released on 15 January 2019 for Windows and the release on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Android, iOS and macOS followed suit. It has some similarities to other farm sims such as Stardew Valley. A sequel, My Time at Sandrock entered early access in 26 May 2022 and was fully released in 2 November 2023.

Unsighted is a 2021 indie video game developed by Studio Pixel Punk and published by Humble Games for the Nintendo Switch, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PS4. Sea of Stars features puzzle-solving and turn-based combat, with the player able to control up to six characters. The game was well received critically and commercially.

Little Witch in the Woods is an upcoming indie life simulation video game developed and published by South Korean studio Sunny Side Up. It launched in early access in mid-2022 for Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The game follows Ellie, an apprentice witch who lives in a forest, wears a talking witch hat named Virgil, and is able to fish and brew potions. She must complete her training by helping nearby villagers and meeting other witches.
Farm life sims are a subgenre of life simulation games which fuse social simulation, dating sim and farm simulation elements. The games generally feature a protagonist going out to a rural setting and taking upon a farm, oftentimes because of an inheritance from a deceased relative, or because of urban boredom. The player-character grows crops and raises livestock to make money, and can interact with a wide cast of characters who are inhabitants of the town, and work toward the main plot's objective, if one exists. The game plots often featured dying ghost towns that must be revitalized by the player's actions. The games tend to feature simplified and less realistic farming as opposed to a simulation, such as Farming Simulator.
My Time at Sandrock is a 2023 farm life sim role-playing video game developed by Pathea Games and published by PM Studios and Focus Entertainment. It is the sequel to the 2019 video game My Time at Portia and takes place in a desert 300 years after an event that destroyed modern technologies. The game was praised for its graphics while on the other hand, criticized for its repetitive gameplay.
Coral Island is a 2023 farm life sim developed by Stairway Games and published by Humble Games. Its gameplay takes place on a tropical island and contains features similar to other farm sims such as Stardew Valley. The game was a huge success on Kickstarter, reaching its initial goal within 36 hours. The game entered early access in October 2022 before fully releasing November the next year.

Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story is a role-playing video game and farm life sim developed by Lithuania-based studio Lazy Bear Games and published by Riot Forge. It was released on February 21, 2024, for Windows and Nintendo Switch. The game, a spin-off of League of Legends, is set in Bandle City, the home of the fictional fairy-like Yordle race, in the fictional universe of Runeterra. The player character is a custom-created Yordle who befriends characters from League of Legends as they seek to fix a malfunction causing the portals connecting each sky island of Bandle City to break. As the player progresses through the game, new parts of the city are unlocked. The game received positive reviews from critics, who praised its graphics and atmosphere, but criticized the gameplay as overly repetitive.

In the indie game, the player resides in the fictional town of Mistria, which is recovering from an earthquake and socializes with its villagers of diverse backgrounds.
