Sungai Limau is a small town in Yan District, Kedah, Malaysia. (There is also a Sungai Limau in Lunas, Kedah). It is the birthplace of the late Ibrahim Hussein, an eminent modern artist in Malaysia.

The mountain is a massive limestone outcrop and is a lone feature from the surrounding geography of the area. There is an information board on top of the mountain stating that it used to be an island called Pulai Serai before the sea levels receded letting it form a mountain. This is probably supported by I Ching's record of Pu Lou Shi, a country located west of Sribogha.

He held the seat of Sungai Limau in the Kedah state assembly from 2004 until his death in 2013. A by-election was held for the Kedah State Assembly seat of Sungai Limau on 4 November 2013 with nomination day on 23 October 2013. The seat was vacated after the death of the incumbent five-term assemblyman and former Menteri Besar of Kedah, Azizan Abdul Razak on 26 September 2013 from heart complications. Tan Sri Azizan was an assemblyman from the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party and the first PAS Menteri Besar of Kedah.

Ayer Limau is a state constituency in Malacca, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Malacca State Legislative Assembly. The state constituency was first contested in 2004 and is mandated to return a single Assemblyman to the Malacca State Legislative Assembly under the first-past-the-post voting system. Since 2021, the State Assemblyman for Ayer Limau is Hameed Mytheen Kunju Bahseer from United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) which is part of the state's ruling coalition, Barisan Nasional (BN).
