The Supercopa Centroamericana is an annual football match organized and contested by the reigning champions of the Costa Rican Cup and the Honduran Cup. It takes place before the start of each domestic season, between July and August.

Association football team field sport

Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players. It is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries and dependencies, making it the world's most popular sport. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by moving the ball beyond the goal line into the opposing goal.

The Costa Rican Cup is the top knock-out football tournament in Costa Rica which also serves as a qualification to the Supercopa Centroamericana.

Honduran Cup

The Honduran Cup is the top knock-out football tournament in Honduras. The first tournament was played in 1968, four years later the second tournament took the name Copa Presidente in honor of Dr. Ramón Cruz; later, General Oswaldo López changed the name and called it Copa Jefe de Estado. Twenty years later the third tournament was played. From 1992 to 1994, the Cup tournament was played as a separate tournament from the league. From 1995 to 1999, the winner of the first stage of the league tournament was declared Cup champions. In 2015, the tournament was yet again re-launched and re-branded as Copa Presidente. Since 2015, the Honduran Cup serves as a qualifier to the Supercopa Centroamericana.

The first edition will be played between 2014 Costa Rican Cup champions C.S. Cartaginés and 2015 Honduran Cup champions C.D. Olimpia in a two-legged series between 25 July and 1 August 2015. [1] [2]

2014 Costa Rican Cup

The 2014 Costa Rican Cup is the 2nd staging of the Costa Rican Cup. The competition began on July 12 and finished on August 10 with the final at the Estadio Nacional.

C.S. Cartaginés association football club

Club Sport Cartaginés Deportiva S.A. is a Costa Rican football club, that currently plays in the Costa Rican Primera División. The club plays in Estadio Jose Rafael Fello Meza, in Barrio Asis de Cartago, Costa Rica.

The 2015 Honduran Cup was the 10th staging of the Honduran Cup and the first edition since 1998. Club Deportivo Olimpia are the defending champions. The 2015 Honduran Cup is referred to as the Copa Presidente de Honduras for sponsorship reasons. The cup is a creation of the Honduran government funded by money allocated to national security fund. Its purpose is to support the growth of sport to detract the youth from vices and to promote national tourism for rural towns.

Copa Interamericana international association football tournament for clubs

The Copa Interamericana was an annual club football competition organized by the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) and Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) since 1969. It was discontinued in 1998 after CONCACAF clubs, particularly those from Mexico, began participating in CONMEBOL competitions. Motagua and Club Deportivo Olimpia was scheduled but not played. One year later, a new Supercup edition was finally reestablished after 17 years of dormancy. The Honduran football authorities however, do not consider the competition official until 2017.

He has coached in the Professional Mexican League, as well in the Honduras Professional League, being a 2 time Champion with Real España and Olimpia.

The 1999 Honduran Supercup was held between winners of 1997–98 Honduran Liga Nacional (Motagua) and 1997 Honduran Cup (Platense). It was the second attempt for the Selacios to obtain the crown, however, the Blues prevailed as champions.

The 2015 Honduran Supercup was a match arranged by the Honduran Liga Nacional which was scheduled to take place on 8 August 2015 between C.D. Motagua, winners of the 2014–15 Honduran Liga Nacional (Apertura) and C.D. Olimpia, winners of the 2015 Honduran Cup. This would have been the third edition of the Honduran Supercup and the first one since 1999; however the match appears to have been abandoned with no disclosed reason.

The 2015 Supercopa Centroamericana was an announced two-legged football match-up scheduled to be played in July and August 2015 between C.S. Cartaginés, winners of the 2014 Costa Rican Cup, and C.D. Olimpia, winners of the 2015 Honduran Cup. It was intended to be the first edition of the competition; however, without further explanation from the organizers, the matches were never played.

2015 Costa Rican Cup

The 2015 Costa Rican Cup is the 3rd staging of the Costa Rican Cup. The competition began on July 4 and finished on November 19 with the final at the Estadio Nacional. The cup featured 20 teams, composed of all 12 teams of the FPD and 8 from the Liga de Ascenso. Originally, teams from the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Aficionado were expected to participate as well, but were withdrawn due to lack of budget.

The 2016 Honduran Supercup was a match arranged by the Honduran Liga Nacional which took place on 30 December 2016 between Juticalpa F.C., winners of the 2015–16 Honduran Cup and Club Deportivo Olimpia, winners of the 2015–16 Liga Nacional.

The 2019 Honduran Supercup will be a match arranged by the Honduran Liga Nacional and the Honduran Cup which will take place on 24 April 2019 between Platense F.C., winners of the 2018 Honduran Cup and C.D. Marathón the winners of the 2017–18 Liga Nacional. This will be the second official edition of the Honduran Supercup and the 6th overall.

The 2019 Honduran Cup will be the 14th edition of the Honduran Cup and the fifth as Copa Presidente. The tournament was announced on 11 December 2018.
