Surajbhan Singh is an Indian politician and former Member of Parliament. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bihar contesting on a ticket from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Currently he is debarred from contesting due to conviction in the Brij Behari Prasad murder case.
Singh hails from Mokama. [2] His wife,Veena Devi,was an MP from Munger parliamentary constituency on a Lok Janshakti Party. His son Ashutosh died in a car accident on Greater Noida Expressway on 27 October 2018. [3]
He started his career in politics by contesting Assembly election against Dilip Singh,the sitting Minister in Government of Bihar and the elder brother of criminal-turned-politician Anant Kumar Singh in 2000 and defeated him by a huge margin. At the time of fighting the 2000 elections,police records credited him with 26 criminal cases ranging across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. [4] After he was elected an independent MLA from the Mokama Assembly constituency (Patna district) then became MP of Balia,Bihar,on a LJP ticket. [5] [6] Currently,he is debarred from contesting due to conviction in the Brij Behari Prasad murder case.
Singh was alleged to have shot and killed Rami Singh,a resident of Madhurapur village in Begusarai district on 16 January 1992. On 24 June 2008,he was found guilty by a Bihar court. After that he went to jail. [7] On Sunday,10 May 2009 unidentified men shot dead the main witness Naga Singh and his grandson near Barauni in Begusarai. [8]
Janata Dal (United) (lit. 'People's Party (United)'),abbreviated as JD(U),is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar,Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and is also a member of the ruling government in Manipur. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha.
Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party,nine-times Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha MP. He started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. Later,Paswan joined Lok Dal upon its formation in 1974,and became its general secretary. He opposed the emergency,and was arrested during this period. He first entered the Lok Sabha in 1977,as a Janata Party member from Hajipur constituency,and was elected again in 1980,1989,1991,1996,1998,1999,2004 and 2014.

The party had a considerable following amongst Dalits in Bihar. The party is factioned into two parties Lok Janshakti Party and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party.

Veena Devi is an Indian politician and the current Member of parliament from Vaishali. She is a former member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Gaighat constituency. In the 2019 Indian general election,she contested from Vaishali with Lok Janshakti Party and defeated Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
Rama Kishore Singh is an Indian politician and is a former member of the Indian Parliament from Vaishali,Bihar. He won the 2014 Indian general election as a Lok Jan Shakti Party candidate. He defeated vice-president of RJD Raghuvansh Prasad Singh by around 1 lakh votes. He enjoys considerable support from the Rajput caste despite having criminal antecedent. According to his election affidavit of 2020,he is facing 38 criminal charges including 7 murders,11 attempt-to-murder and 4 cases of kidnapping.
Brij Behari Prasad,also spelled Brij Bihari Prasad was an Indian politician. A member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD),Prasad served as Minister for Science and Technology in the Government of Bihar. He was arrested for alleged involvement in corrupt admissions to technical institutes and was murdered on 13 June 1998 at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna,where he was undergoing treatment. It was claimed that his death was in retribution for his involvement in assassination of gangster Chhottan Shukla and five other people,who were killed on 4 December 1994,while returning home from a campaign organised in context of 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Shukla was a gangster from the Bhumihar community,whereas Prasad was a Bania. Supporters of Prasad were thought to be responsible for the killing of Shukla.
