Susanne Georgi Nielsen (born 27 July 1976), commonly known as Susanne Georgi, is a Danish singer who lives and works in Andorra. She represented the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

Career

Georgi started her career along with her sister in the duo Me & My; the group had a couple of hits around Europe. They also participated in the Danish pre-selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2007 together, in the end landing a 6th place in the national final. In 2009, she stated on her official MySpace page that she was recording her fourth album.

Georgi is the owner of Stars Academy - the biggest singing academy in Andorra. She also runs a management and recording studio to help new and upcoming talents.

Susanne has prepared many artists from all over Europe for participation in several TV-shows and contests including Britain's Got Talent, Got Talent España, La Voz (Spanish TV series), La Voz Kids, Veo cómo cantas (Spanish game show), Eurovision Denmark, Eurovision Luxembourg and Eurovision Andorra.

Eurovision

Susanne Georgi is a well-known personality in the Eurovision world. She has been the leader in the fight for getting Andorra back in Eurovision again. [2] She claims that Andorra might be back in 2026. Susanne has stated in an interview that her fight would not be possible without all the support from her Euro-fans, who call her the Queen of Eurovision.

Eurovision 2009

Susanne represented Andorra in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 [3] in Moscow, Russia with the song "La teva decisió (Get a Life)". The results of the national final in Andorra showed that she had received 47% of the jury vote and 66% of the public televote. The song, however, failed to make it to the final of Eurovision the same year, losing out in the first semi-final. It was not the first time Susanne has made an appearance in Eurovision; at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 she presented the Danish televoting results at the Final in Helsinki. She has been working extensively to bring Andorra back to the contest since her appearance in the competition.

Personal life

Georgi moved to Andorra in 1995 and has lived there ever since. She can speak Catalan, Danish, English, Spanish and German. [4]

On 10 September 2011, Georgi married Xavier Puigcercós. They have two daughters: Molly Puigcercós Georgi (2010) and Shelly Puigcercós Georgi (2012). In 2019, Molly was a contestant on the Spanish version of The Voice Kids broadcast on Antena 3.[ citation needed ] Molly and Shelly was in 2023 contestants in the Spanish version of The Voice Kids broadcast on Antena 3

Andorra has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest six times, debuting in the 2004 contest and participating every year thereafter until the 2009 contest. The Andorran participant broadcaster in the contest is Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA). To date, Andorra remains the only nation to have never competed in a final, with its best result being a 12th-place finish in the 2007 contest's semi-final. Andorra withdrew from the contest following its 2009 appearance, with RTVA citing financial difficulties as the reason for its withdrawal. The country has not entered the contest again since. Interest in the contest has, however, remained high in the country, while statements from the Andorran government and broadcaster indicated that a future return was possible, depending on financial backing.

Andorra participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "La mirada interior" written by Rafael Artesero, Daniel Aragay and Rafa Fernández. The song was performed by Marian van de Wal. The Andorran broadcaster Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA) organised the national final Desitja'm sort in order to select the Andorran entry for the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. The national final took place over three stages and two televised shows, resulting in the selection of Marian van de Wal as the winning artist on 19 December 2004 and "La mirada interior" as the winning song on 22 January 2005.

Spain was represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "I Love You Mi Vida" written by Thomas G:son, Andreas Rickstrand, Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson, and Rebeca Pous Del Toro, and performed by the group D'Nash. The Spanish participating broadcaster Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) organised the national final Misión Eurovisión in order to select its entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The national final consisted of four heats, a semi-final and a final and involved 57 competing acts. Five acts and five songs ultimately qualified to compete in the televised final where a public televote first selected the top five to advance to the second round. In the second round of voting, a regional televote exclusively selected "I Love You Mi Vida" performed by Nash as the winner. The group was later renamed as D'Nash for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Mirela Cabero García, simply known as Mirela, is a Spanish singer. Mirela has participated in various musical contests and singing competitions since she was a child.

Andorra was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Jugarem a estimar-nos", written by Jofre Bardagí, and performed by Marta Roure. The Andorran participating broadcaster, Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA), organised the national final 12 Punts in order to select its entry for the contest. This was the first-ever entry from Andorra in the Eurovision Song Contest, and the first-ever entry performed in Catalan in the contest.

Spain was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song "Dime" composed by Jesús María Pérez, with lyrics by Amaya Martínez, and performed by Beth. The Spanish participating broadcaster Televisión Española (TVE) selected its entry through the second series of the reality television music competition Operación Triunfo. Serbia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 which took place on 20 November 2016, in Valletta, Malta. Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Dunja Jeličić was internally selected to represent Serbia with the song "U la la la".

When Atresmedia announced the acquisition of the format in June 2018, they announced they would produce La Voz Senior, where elders over 60 will compete against each other.
