Suzanne Crouch (born February 27,1952) is an American politician who has served as the 52nd lieutenant governor of Indiana since 2017. She previously served as the 56th state auditor of Indiana. She is running for governor of Indiana in 2024.
A member of the Republican Party,Crouch served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2005 to 2014. On December 15,2013,Governor Mike Pence appointed her to serve as the 56th State Auditor of Indiana. Crouch was reelected to that position in 2014. She resigned as State Auditor following her election as Lieutenant Governor of Indiana in 2016.
Crouch graduated from Mater Dei High School in Evansville [1] and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University,majoring in political science. Before serving in local government,Crouch chaired the Vanderburgh County Republican Central Committee for four years. Under her chairship,a majority of Republicans were elected to County Council,the first time in 60 years that Republicans controlled that body.
Crouch was elected Vanderburgh County Auditor in 1994 and served two terms.
In 2002,Crouch was elected to the Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners and served as president until the end of her term in 2005. She worked to televise weekly commission meetings and by holding public hearings to seek the public's input on important issues. While she was president,the Commissioners,for the first time ever,applied and received federal transportation dollars for a local road project.
In 2005 the district 78 seat for state representative was vacated by Vaneta Becker,who had moved to the State Senate to fill the vacated seat of Greg Server. House District 78 contains parts of Spencer,Vanderburgh and Warrick counties. Parts of Evansville,Newburgh,Richland,Hatfield,Darmstadt and McCutchanville are in the district. Crouch was elected to fill the position in a caucus by precinct committeemen. She was appointed vice chair of the Public Health Committee in the state legislature. Crouch was challenged in the 2006 Republican primary by conservative activist Jonathan Fulton but defeated him with 63% of the vote.
After Indiana State Auditor Dwayne Sawyer resigned in 2013,Crouch was appointed to fill the position. [2] In 2014,after the completion of Sawyer's term,the Republican Party of Indiana officially nominated Crouch for that year's election. On November 4,Crouch was elected by 23 points over Democratic nominee Mike Claytor,with 59.6% of the vote. [3]
After Governor Mike Pence was named Donald Trump's running mate in the 2016 presidential election,he had to withdraw from the gubernatorial election. Eric Holcomb,the lieutenant governor of Indiana,was chosen as Republican nominee for governor,and Crouch as the nominee for lieutenant governor. [4]

Mater Dei High School or Evansville Mater Dei High School is a private Catholic high school on the west side of Evansville,Indiana,constructed in 1949. It is one of two Catholic high schools that serve the students of Vanderburgh,Posey,Gibson,and Warrick counties as part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Evansville.
The Indiana State Auditor is a constitutional and elected office in the executive branch of the government of the U.S. State of Indiana. The Auditor of Indiana is elected to a four-year term and is subject to term limits where the officeholder is bound to serving eight years out of any twelve-year period. In this position,the auditor serves as the state's chief financial officer and is in charge of the oversight of state funds and revenue. The incumbent state auditor is Tera Klutz. Klutz has held this position since being appointed by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb. Klutz was appointed to the position after her predecessor,Suzanne Crouch resigned to become Lieutenant Governor of Indiana. In 2008,the annual salary of the auditor of Indiana was $66,000.
The 2012 Indiana gubernatorial election took place on November 6,2012. Incumbent governor Mitch Daniels was term-limited and unable to seek a third term. The Republican candidate,Congressman Mike Pence;the Democratic candidate,former Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives John R. Gregg;and the Libertarian candidate,youth mentor,small business owner and reality TV personality,Rupert Boneham,were all unopposed in their respective primaries or conventions and contested the general election. This is the first open Indiana gubernatorial election since 1996 and the first gubernatorial election since 1972 without the governor or lieutenant governor as a nominee.
Sue Ellspermann is an American academic administrator and politician who served as the 50th lieutenant governor of Indiana,from 2013 to 2016. A member of the Republican Party,from 2010 to 2012 Ellspermann served in the Indiana House of Representatives from the 74th District,representing Warrick,Spencer,and parts of Dubois,and Perry County,Indiana. She resigned as lieutenant governor on March 2,2016,to become the president of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana,a position she has held since July 1,2016.

Michael A. Claytor is an American accountant,attorney,and politician. Claytor was the Democratic candidate for Indiana State Auditor during the 2014 election cycle,losing the race to Republican Suzanne Crouch. Prior to entering the race for Auditor,Claytor,a licensed CPA,worked for 15 years at the Indiana State Board of Accounts,where he served as Deputy Chief Examiner before transitioning to a career in the private sector and becoming a partner at Crowe Horwath LLP. He retired from the private sector in 2012. Claytor worked as treasurer for the gubernatorial campaign of former state representative John Gregg.
