Swan Christian College is a co-educational [6] Christian primary and secondary school located in the Swan Valley of Western Australia. [7] The college has over 1,500 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Swan Christian College is part of the Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA), [8] and a member of the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA). [6]
Swan Christian College was founded in 1983 (under the name of Swan Christian High School [1] ) and first commenced operations on a vacated Seventh Day Adventist high school campus [1] : 50 in Victoria Park before moving to its newly constructed Middle Swan campus in 1986. [1] : 64
In 1995, Midland Christian School moved from Midland to the Middle Swan campus, [1] : 82 and in 1997 the school officially changed its name to Swan Christian College to become a K-12 school with the Junior, Middle and Senior School campus that is in place today. [1]
Swan Christian College is one of seven schools [10] that are part of the Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA). [8] The college's K-12 campus in the Swan Valley, WA includes an online school and Trade Training Centre. Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a public research university in Western Australia. It is named in honour of the first woman to be elected to an Australian parliament, Edith Cowan, and is the only Australian university named after a woman. The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) is the credential awarded to students who have completed senior secondary education in the state of Western Australia. It is the Western Australian graduation certificate of the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education. Students are required to meet various breadth and depth requirements, achievement standards and literacy and numeracy standards across their final years of schooling. As of the 2020 WACE, there are 106 courses available for students to study.
