Swimming at the 2009 Southeast Asian Games was held in Vientiane, Laos from 10 to 14 December 2009. [1] In this edition, the sport consisted of 32 events, swum in a long course (50m) pool.

The Southeast Asian Games, also known as the SEA Games, is a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from the current 11 countries of Southeast Asia. Joscelin Yeo Wei Ling is a former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) from Nov 2006 to Apr 2011 and a former competitive swimmer from Singapore. Yeo won 40 gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games. She also represented Singapore in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Summer Olympics. Yeo was elected as a Rhodes Scholar but never took up the scholarship. During the 2012 London Olympics, she was a TV analyst for certain Asian markets on ESPN Star Sports.

The aquatics events at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games included swimming, diving and water polo. The events were held at the Aquatic Center, His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Quah Ting Wen is a Singaporean professional swimmer who specialises in butterfly, freestyle and individual medley events. She is currently representing DC Trident at the International Swimming League.

Daniel William Henry Bego is a Malaysian swimmer, who specialises in freestyle and butterfly events. He emerged as one of Malaysia's most promising and outstanding swimmers, winning a total of fifteen medals at the Southeast Asian Games, and breaking six national records. He was the first Malaysian swimmer to compete in three different events at a single Olympic Games.

Philippine Swimming Incorporated (PSI) is the national governing body of aquatic sports in the Philippines. PSI currently oversees swimming, diving, and water polo. It is accredited by the International Swimming Federation and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

Marina Chan is a Singaporean freestyle and butterfly swimmer. Hailing from a prominent swimming family, Chan only took up the sport in her first year of high school. She has represented her country at the FINA World Cup, Asian Games, Asian Swimming Championships, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games and the Asian Youth Games with her aim win a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Samantha Louisa Ginn Yeo is a Singaporean breaststroke and medley swimmer. Competing in her first of three Southeast Asian Games at just 12 years of age, Yeo has represented her country at the long course and short course World Championships, the FINA World Cup, Asian Games, Asian Swimming Championships, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games and Asian Youth Games. In June 2014, Yeo was recruited to the Michigan Wolverines on a partial, performance-based, sports scholarship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Singapore Swimming Association</span> Singaporean national governing body for competitive swimming

The Singapore Swimming Association is the national governing body for competitive swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water polo and open water swimming in Singapore. The SSA is also charged with selecting the Singapore Olympic Swimming team and any other teams that officially represent Singapore, as well as the overall organisation and operation of the sport within the country.

Swimming competitions at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games was held at the OCBC Aquatic Centre in the Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang, Singapore from 6 to 11 June 2015. Built only a year earlier, the venue is hosting the Southeast Asian Games for the first time. It was used to host the second Southeast Asian Swimming Championships in 2014 as a test bed for the organisers, with the 2015 Southeast Asian Games volunteers hired to also volunteer in the 2014 Swimming Championships to help in the familiarisation of the new venue.

Synchronised swimming at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games was held in the OCBC Aquatic Centre, in Kallang, Singapore from 2 to 4 June 2015.
