Sydney Barta (born February 16, 2004) is an American track and field athlete. [1] An amputee, she competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. [2] In 2019, she was awarded US Paralympics Track and Field Female High School Athlete of the Year. [1]
Barta was born and grew up in Arlington, Virginia. Her mother, Laura, played basketball for Princeton University in New Jersey. When Barta was six years, she was finishing a fun run the when metal scaffolding fell onto her, shattering her left ankle. [3] She spent the next four months in hospital and, while being treated for her injury, she developed compartment syndrome. [4] Her wound became infected leading to a portion of her left leg being removed over the course of 21 surgeries. [3] She was eight years old when she competed in her first track and field fixture in Fort Wayne. [3] Barta competed in seven events and swam the 200m freestyle swimming over the course of two days. At the event, Barta met the head of the Challenged Athletes Foundation which resulted in the organization donating an improved running blade to her. [3]
Barta won gold in the 100, 200 and 400 metres at the 2019 World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Switzerland and her performance in this championship landed her a place in the Parapan American Games in Lima, Peru, where she won gold in the 200 metres. [3] [5] Barta competed in the World Para Athletics Championships in 2019 where she entered three events finishing 7th in the shot put T64, 4th in the 200 metres T64 and 9th in the discus throw T64. [4] In the 2020 Paralympic Games, Barta qualified for the 200 metres final where she narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing 4th behind Kimberly Alkemade of the Netherlands. [2]
Barta is a high school graduate of The National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C. She now attends Stanford University, and is in her second year concentrating in bioengineering and human biology. In 2023, she completed summer research on gait analysis as a Wu Tsai scholar with a prominent orthopaedic surgeon at Stanford, while training for the 2023 Para Panamerican Games in Santiago, Chile where she won gold in the 200 meters, T64.
Elizabeth Gemma Clegg, is a British Paralympic sprinter and tandem track cyclist who has represented both Scotland and Great Britain at international events. She represented Great Britain in the T12 100m and 200m at the 2008 Summer Paralympics, winning a silver medal in the T12 100m race. She won Gold in Rio at the 2016 Paralympic Games in 100m T11 where she broke the world record and T11 200m, beating the previous Paralympic record in the process, thus making her a double Paralympic champion.
Rosemary Little is an Australian Paralympic athlete. She won a bronze medal in wheelchair racing at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and has also competed in handcycling. She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, her third Games, where switched from wheelchair racing to shot put. She competed in the shot put and club throw at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Ella Azura Pardy is an Australian Paralympic athlete who competes in the T38 100m, 200m and long jump. She represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics where she won a bronze medal and the 2020 Toykor Paralympics and the 2024 Paris Paralympics
Kadeena Cox is a parasport athlete competing in T38 para-athletics sprint events and C4 para-cycling and British television presenter. She was part of the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships and the 2016 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, in which she won world titles in the T37 100m and C4 500m time trial respectively.
Isis Holt is an Australian Paralympic athlete competing in T35 sprint events. She is affected by the condition cerebral palsy. Holt won gold medals in the 100 m and 200 m at the 2015 and 2017 World Para Athletics Championships. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, she won two silver medals and a bronze medal and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, two silver medals.
