Sydney S. Salins is a New Testament scholar who teaches [3] at the Karnataka Theological College, [4] Mangalore, a seminary established in 1965 [5] and affiliated to the nation's first [6] university, the Senate of Serampore College (University).

Salins was a participant at the original exploratory committee on dialogue in 1997 [7] conducted by the World Council of Churches [8]

Studies

Salins had his ministerial formation at the United Theological College, Bangalore, between 1970 and 1974, [9] studying along with his companion John Sadananda for a Bachelor of Divinity (B. D.) awarded by the Senate of Serampore College (University) under the registrarship of J. T. Krogh. Again from 1980 to 1982, Salins studied along with another companion Surya Prakash for a postgraduate course specialising in the New Testament under J. G. F. Collison and K. James Carl and submitted a dissertation entitled A study of the use of the christological title, "Son of Man" in the writings up to 325 AD [10] for which he was awarded a Master of Theology (M. Th.) degree by the university under the Registrarship of D. S. Satyaranjan.

Teaching ministry

Soon after his graduate studies at the Protestant Regional Seminary in Bangalore, Salins began teaching at the Karnataka Theological College, Mangalore, from 1974 onwards and later availed study leave to equip himself with a postgraduate degree in New Testament in 1982. After a forty-year teaching ministry that began in 1974, [11] Salins retired in early 2015 on attaining superannuation but continues to teach at the Seminary in Mangalore.

Bishop Babbili Prabhudass(died 1996) was the first elected Bishop - in - Karimnagar Diocese of the Church of South India which was ecclesiastically bifurcated from the Diocese of Dornakal of the Church of South India in early 1978. Prabhudass led the bishopric for a period of five years from 1978 through 1982.

Rajula Annie Watson is a Theologian who presently teaches at the Karnataka Theological College, Mangalore, a Seminary established in 1965 and affiliated to the nation's first University, the Senate of Serampore College. Timotheas Hembrom is an ordained Minister of the Church of North India and an Old Testament Scholar who taught at the Bishop's College, Kolkata, affiliated to the nation's first University, the Senate of Serampore College (University). As a Biblical scholar, Hembrom is a member of the scholarly Society for Biblical Studies in India, with members from the Protestant, Orthodox, Catholic and Charismatic Church societies. He researched on Santali creation traditions and his work was first published in 1996 was simultaneously reviewed in the Indian Journal of Theology and the Journal of Hindu-Christian Studies.

Daniel Rathnakara Sadananda is a New Testament Scholar who is re-elected as the General Secretary (Triennium 2017-2020) of the Church of South India Synod headquartered in Chennai as well as the Chairperson (triennium 2015-2018) of the Council of the United Theological College, Bangalore, the only autonomous College under the Senate of Serampore College (University). He also serves as the Vice President of National Council of Churches in India (2016-2020) as well Executive Secretary of the Communion of Churches in India comprising CNI, CSI, Marthoma Churches and now MCI.

D. I. Hans is a Religions Scholar who researched on Vijayanagara literature in Kannada, especially the Veerashaiva writings with special reference to Basavanna. Hans used Historical criticism to study Basavanna's ethical teachings. As a Veerashaiva Scholar, Hans also prepared a bibliography on the existing Veerashaiva literature available in some of the Languages of India, namely, Sanskrit, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Telugu and Tamil.

G. D. V. Prasad is an Old Testament scholar and translator who was the Director of Translations at the Bible Society of India, Bangalore, from 1991 to 2010. Prasad is from the Diocese of Krishna-Godavari of the Church of South India.

A. C. Solomon Raj is the seventh successor of Frank Whittaker and eighth Bishop in Medak of the Protestant Church of South India Society and shepherds the Diocese from the Cathedra of the Bishop housed in the CSI-Medak Cathedral in Medak Town, Telangana, India. On 12 October 2016, the Church of South India Synod headquartered in Chennai, appointed Solomon Raj to assume the ecclesiastical Office of the Bishopric of Medak and was consecrated the next day on 13 October 2016 at the CSI-St. George's Cathedral, Chennai, ending four years of sede vacante in the Diocese of Medak which was without a bishop during the intervening period of 2012–2016.

G. Solomon was an Old Testament Scholar and a Baptist Patriarch hailing from the Protestant Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches Society (an affiliate member of the Baptist World Alliance and the National Council of Churches in India) and led it as its President during the years 1978-1982 overseeing the spiritual affairs of the Church Society whose ecclesiastical jurisdiction comprises the three states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with 873 Churches comprising nearly a million members per present statistics.

J. William Paul Rajashekar is a Systematic Theologian who is the Luther D. Reed Emeritus Professor of Systematic Theology at United Lutheran Seminary, Pennsylvania Rajashekar is best known for his writings on inter-faith dialogue. He grew up in a setting of religions in India and has oft-spoken at numerous platforms and quotes Max Mueller, (adapted)...one who knows one (religion), knows none.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">G. D. Melanchthon</span>

G. D. Melanchthon (1934–1994) was a Silver Jubilee Priest hailing from Protestant Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church Society who taught Religions, at United Theological College, Bangalore from 1968 till the latter half of eighties until his career was brought to an abrupt end in 1988 on being stricken with paralysis. Melanchthon used to be quite active among the academic community along with Chrysostom Arangaden, Arvind P. Nirmal and others in not only delivering scholarly talks, but also in contributing research articles and reviewing new titles.
