Sylvanus Dung Dung (born January 27, 1949) is a former field hockey player from Simdega, Jharkhand, India. Received the Dhyanchand award in 2016.

Simdega is a city in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Simdega is the administrative headquarters of the eponymous district and Subdivision. The city stands at an elevation of approximately 418 metres (1371 feet) above sea level and covers an area of 3,750 km2 (1,450 sq mi). The Maharashtra swimmer Virdhawal Khade who won 12 medals including 8 golds was adjudged the best male athlete while the Delhi swimmer Richa Mishra who won 16 medals including 11 golds was adjudged the best female athlete. The best state award was won by Manipur which won 48 gold medals to finish in second place overall.

Her selection to the team made her the sixth hockey player from Jharkhand to play in Olympics, bracketing her with Jaipal Singh Munda (1928), Michael Kido (1972), Sylvanus Dungdung (1980), Ajeet Lakra (1992) and Manohar Topno (1984).

The 1978 India-Pakistan field hockey test series was the first series of bilateral field hockey matches between India and Pakistan. It was held between 9 and 19 February 1978 in the form of a four-test series and was played in two legs – first two in India and the remaining in Pakistan. Pakistan won the first three matches and India the last, the former winning the series 3–1.
