Syre (Scottish Gaelic : Saghair) is a small settlement, located within Strath Naver, Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. [1]

Notable buildings in Syre are a tin church built in the late 19th Century and a farmhouse known as "Patrick Sellar's House". [2] [3] Closeby are the ruins of the clearance village of Rosal. [4]

Bonnyrigg is a town in Midlothian, Scotland, which is eight miles southeast of Edinburgh city centre, between the Rivers North and South Esk. <i>Hate Them</i> 2003 studio album by Darkthrone

Hate Them is the ninth studio album by Norwegian black metal band, Darkthrone. It was released 10 March 2003 by Moonfog Productions. Like their subsequent release, Sardonic Wrath, the album had an electronic intro and outro created by Lars Sørensen from Red Harvest. The cover image was the work of Eric Syre from Thesyre, and incorporated images of the Sagrada Família Catholic church in Barcelona. In 2012, the album was reissued by Peaceville Records, including a bonus CD with audio commentary by the band.

Alexander Rose (1647–1720) was a Scottish scholar, minister and bishop. William Patrick Syring is an American retired career diplomat who was convicted of threatening and violating the civil rights of James Zogby, the president and founder, and other senior employees of the Arab American Institute during the 2006 Lebanon War. Syring pleaded guilty to the charges 12 June 2008, was sentenced to one year in prison 11 July 2008, and was released early, in January 2009. Syring was again indicted by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia on very similar alleged offenses on February 21, 2018, and was ultimately sentenced to 60 months In prison. At Syring's arraignment on March 14, 2018, he pleaded not guilty before The Honorable Robin M. Meriweather, United States magistrate judge, United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The Honorable Randolph Moss United States District Judge presided at Syring's trial in 2019, which sentenced him to 60 months in prison.

Ayton Castle is located to the east of Ayton in the Scottish Borders. It is 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) north-west of Berwick-upon-Tweed, in the former county of Berwickshire. Built around a medieval tower house, the present castle dates largely from the 19th century. Ayton Castle is the caput of the feudal barony of Ayton. The castle is protected as a category A listed building, and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant parks and gardens.

Max Syring was a German long-distance runner who won a bronze medal over 10,000 m at the 1938 European Championships. He competed at the 1932 Summer Olympics in the 5,000 and 10,000 m events and finished in sixth and fifth place, respectively; he failed to reach the 5,000 m final at the 1936 Summer Olympics. In retirement, Syring worked as an athletics coach. His trainees included Klaus Richtzenhain.

Loch Naver is a loch in the Farr parish in Sutherland in the Highland council area of northern Scotland. It is situated upon the B873 main road.
