T. R. Paarivendhar (also known as T. R. Pachamuthu,born 24 August 1941) is an Indian politician,academician,founder-president of Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi and Ex MP to the 17th Lok Sabha from Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency,Tamil Nadu. [1]
He is well known as the founder-chairman of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology.[ citation needed ]
He contested and won the 2019 Indian general election on DMK's Rising Sun symbol being an Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi party member. [2] His party contested along with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. [3] In 2019 he walked out of the AIADMK-BJP alliance after the Pattali Makkal Katchi joined it. [4] His party allied with Kamal Hassan's Makkal Needhi Maiam during the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election. [5]
The Chennai Central Crime Branch police arrested SRM University chancellor Pari Vendhar on August 26,2016,after questioning him overnight. The arrest followed complaints from over 100 students who claimed they paid money for a medical seat at SRM college but didn't get admitted. The Central Crime Branch police found initial evidence suggesting his involvement in cheating students of Rs. 75 crore. The case began when Madhan,a close aide to Pachamuthu and Managing Partner of Vendhar Movies,went missing in May 2016,leaving a suicide note. In the note,Madhan lamented that after collecting crores of rupees from parents,they would be unable to meet their pledge. [6] While Paarivendhar filed a case accusing Madhan of illegally collecting the money,over 110 parents addressed the police,claiming to have donated Rs. 50 lakh each on their assurance of admission to the MBBS course. [7] The Saidapet magistrate court announced his decision to remand him to 15 days in custody the same day. [8]
A case has been filed in Madras High Court on 2016 that Parivendar occupied land worth Rs.371 crores designated for the Adi Dravidas in Kanchipuram district's Kattangolathur for his SRM university. The Madras High Court on 14 July 2016 ordered notices to be sent to Kanchipuram District Collector and Parivendar in this case. [9]

The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. The thirteenth legislative assembly election,of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections,with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats,and its leader,M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result,DMK formed a minority government with its allies,which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.

The twelfth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 10 May 2001. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led front won the elections and its general secretary,J. Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister,even though she could not legally run as MLA in this election. She was unanimously nominated as Chief Minister by her party and was ready to serve her second term. But due to criminal and corruption charges from her first term,on 21 September 2001,a five-judge constitutional bench of the Supreme Court of India ruled in a unanimous verdict that "a person who is convicted for a criminal offense and sentenced to imprisonment for not less than two years cannot be appointed the Chief Minister of a State under Article 164 (1) read with (4) and cannot continue to function as such". Thereby,the bench decided that "in the appointment of Dr. J. Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister there has been a clear infringement of a Constitutional provision and that a writ of quo warranto must issue". In effect,her appointment as Chief Minister was declared null and invalid with retrospective effect. Therefore,technically,she was not the Chief Minister in the period between 14 May 2001 and 21 September 2001. After her resignation on 21 September 2001,she put in O. Panneerselvam,as the official 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,until she could clear up the charges from her first term,so she can take up the mantle of Chief Minister officially,on 2 March 2002.

The Fourteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members from 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Results were released on 13 May 2011. Two major parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the election as coalitions of multiple political parties:DMK front consisted of 8 parties and the AIADMK of 11 parties. Vijayakanth's Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK),which had contested the previous elections independently,allied with the AIADMK coalition. Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam boycotted the election following a disagreement with Jayalalithaa over seat-sharing. The outgoing Karunanidhi government was noted for the construction of new assembly building in Chennai,execution of various developmental projects,and implementation of programmes including free health care for the poor and issuance of a range of freebies such as color television to all. However,these were heavily overshadowed by other major issues such as incessant power cuts in households and industries,excessive sand mining,increasing prices of essential items,2G spectrum case and undue influence of Karunanidhi's extended family in various aspects of Tamil politics and business and even media.
The All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi was an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. It was founded by the former member of parliament of the Republic of India R. Sarathkumar on 31 August 2007. The party was led by Sarathkumar as president until 12 March 2024 from its date of founding. On 12 March 2024,the AISMK was merged into the Bharatiya Janata Party by its founder Sarathkumar,and presided over by K. Annamalai,the state president of the Tamil Nadu BJP.
Indiya Jananayaka Katchi is a political party in Tamil Nadu,India. It was founded by T. R. Paarivendhar,an academic and the founder of SRM Group of institutions. The party is based in Chennai. IJK contested in the 2014 General Elections through an alliance with the BJP-led NDA. IJK contested 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections through an alliance with the BJP-led NDA but couldn't register a single victory. IJK contested in the 2019 General Elections through an alliance with the DMK-led UPA. T. R. Paarivendhar contested in Perambalur and won with a margin of 4,03,518 votes.
The 2014 Indian general elections for Tamil Nadu's 39 seats in the 16th Lok Sabha were held on 24 April 2014. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam led by its general secretary J. Jayalalithaa won a spectacular victory,taking 37 of the 39 seats. The total electors in the state of Tamil Nadu for the election was 55,114,867 and 73.74% of voters exercised their right to do so. The results of the elections were declared on 16 May 2014.

The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984,though with a simple majority. The DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly;notably,the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested,and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. In the previous election in 2011,AIADMK,under the leadership of Jayalalithaa,won a thumping majority and formed the government,while DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition until January 2016. This was the last election that J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi contested,as they both died later that year and 2018 respectively.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry. The party was founded by Kamal Haasan at Madurai on 21 February 2018. He also unveiled the party flag. The flag is symbolised by six interlocked hands,meant to represent co-operation between the Southern states of india. Their election symbol is a battery torchlight.
The 2022 Tamil Nadu urban local body elections to the local government in Tamil Nadu were held in urban areas in February 2022. The Greater Chennai Corporation,alongside 20 other municipal corporations of Tamil Nadu,went to polling on 19 February 2022 to elect councillors to represents the wards in the respective cities;the elected councillors will choose a mayor from amongst themselves.
