Vendhar Movies is an Indian film production and distribution company based in Chennai.

History

In 2012 The company first started as proprietary by B.Balagurunathan and become partnership with S.Madhan in 2013 August. The company first distributed the film "Vettai" starring Madhavan and Aarya (2012 January) in Tirunelvely&Kanyakumari area (blockbuster) .Next the company distributes "Kalakalappu" starring Mirchi Siva, Vimal, Oviya and Anjali (Blockbuster). The company distributed Aravaan starring Aadhi, in 2012. Next they distributed Saguni starring Karthi , introducing Vishal. [1] The film became a 2013 blockbuster. Following this success, Naan Sigappu Manithan was produced. [2] Thiru directed action film, starring Vishal, also went on to become highly successful at the box office, emerging as one of the Tamil films of 2014. Their following production was Puli Paarvai starring S.Madhan will be released soon. Their next production was Poojai starring Vishal and Shruti Haasan, which released on 22 October 2014, coinciding with the Diwali festival and turned out to be another milestone in his career. [3] Simultaneously, they distributed Ethir Neela, the dubbed Telugu version of Ethir Neechal and Vana Yudha, that of Vanayudham, in Andhra Pradesh.

Vendhar Movies distributed the Karthi starrer film, Saguni in 2012. They also started venturing into small-scale films in the same year by purchasing and distributing Kalakalappu, Onbathula Guru and Kumki . Its first production in 2014, Uyirukku Uyiraga starring Sanjeev, Sharan, Preethi Das, and Nandhana was a commercial failure. [4] They also distributed Aarambam, Veeram, Anjaan which opened to highly positive critical reaction. [5] The studio distributed another film starring Vikram Prabhu, Arima Nambi directed by Anand Sankar.

Thillu Mullu is a 2013 Tamil-language comedy film directed by Badri who earlier directed Veerappu and Ainthaam Padai. It is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name which was a remake of the 1979 Hindi film Gol Maal. The film stars Shiva and Isha Talwar. Prakash Raj enacted the character played by Thengai Srinivasan. Kovai Sarala, Soori, Sathyan, Ilavarasu and Manobala played supporting roles. The music was jointly scored by M. S. Viswanathan and Yuvan Shankar Raja who for the first time worked together. While the film's muhurat took place on 24 August, the shooting commenced in September. The film released on 14 June 2013 to highly positive reviews and became a super hit at the box office.

Ethir Neechal is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language sports comedy drama film written and directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar in his directorial debut. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, Priya Anand and Nandita Swetha. Produced by Dhanush under his studio Wunderbar Films, it was distributed by S. Madhan under the banner Vendhar Movies. Principal photography commenced on 23 July 2012, and was ended on 22 February 2013. Naan Sigappu Manithan is a 2014 Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Thiru and produced by UTV Motion Pictures. Co-produced by Vishal, the film stars himself in the leading role with Lakshmi Menon and Ineya in supporting roles, while G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the film's music. The film deals with narcolepsy. It was released on 11 April 2014, and was declared a commercial success. The film opened to positive reviews from critics, many praising Vishal's performances, screenplay, fast-paced narration, while some criticized its second half, which was apparently vulgar to them.

Badri is an Indian film director and screenwriter who primarily works in Tamil film industry. He started his career with television series Malargal and made his debut in films with Veerappu in 2007.

Poojai (transl. Prayer) is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by Hari and produced by Vishal, who also played the lead role alongside an ensemble cast featuring Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Radhika, Mukesh Tiwari, Awadesh Mishra and Soori.
