Transportation in Malawi is poorly developed. The country of almost 14 million has 39 airports, 6 with paved runways and 33 with unpaved runways. It has 797 kilometres of railways, all narrow-gauge and about 45 percent of its roads are paved. Though it is landlocked, Malawi also has 700 km (435 mi) of waterways on Lake Malawi and along the Shire River.
Transport in Tanzania includes road, rail, air and maritime networks. The road network is 86,472 kilometres (53,731 mi) long, of which 12,786 kilometres (7,945 mi) is classified as trunk road and 21,105 kilometres (13,114 mi) as regional road. Manyara Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the town of Babati. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 1,425,131, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 1,497,555. For 2002–2012, the region's 3.2 percent average annual population growth rate was tied for the third highest in the country. It was also the 22nd most densely populated region with 32 people per square kilometre.

Kahama Urban District is one of the five districts of the Shinyanga Region of Tanzania. Its administrative centre is the town of Kahama. It is bordered to the north and south by Kahama Rural District, to the east by Nzega District and to the west by Bukombe District.
Kyela is one of the seven districts of Mbeya Region, Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by Rungwe District, to the northeast by Njombe Region, to the southeast by Lake Nyasa, to the south by Malawi and to the west by Ileje District.

Ngonga is an administrative ward in the Kyela district of the Mbeya Region of Tanzania. The village is on Lake Nyasa by the Songwe River that forms the Tanzania and Malawi border, and thirty minute drive from the border crossing in Kasumulu. The ward covers an area of 339.4 square kilometres (131.0 sq mi) with an average elevation of 482 metres (1,581 ft).
Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) is a parastatal public corporation acting under the aegis of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, that has the responsibility "to manage and operate" the ocean ports and lake ports of the country of Tanzania. The Tanzania Ports Authority headquarters are located in Mchafukoge ward of Ilala District in Dar es Salaam Region. It is a member of the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa.

Magu is a town in Mwanza Region of Tanzania, East Africa. It is the administrative seat of Magu District, one of the seven districts of Mwanza Region. The distance from Magu to Mwanza town is around 60 kilometres. According to the national census of 2012, the population of Magu – Magu Mjini in Swahili – was 23,822.
The Mtwara Development Project is a major infrastructure development project involving southern Tanzania, northern Mozambique, eastern Malawi and Eastern Zambia. The goal of this project is to provide road, rail and waterway access from the surrounding region to the Port of Mtwara. The region and the corridor has been neglected by the respective governments for over 40 years and the recent discovery of oil, gas and various minerals has kick started the development of the project. A road and rail link is to be built from the port of Mtwara to Mbamba Bay on Lake Nyasa to link Malawi to the corridor and further road links into Mozambique will facilitate access to northern Mozambique.
Singida is a city in central Tanzania. The city is the location of the regional headquarters of Singida Region as well as the district headquarters of Singida Urban District. The region and district are named after the city.
Nyashimo is a town in Tanzania on the shores of Lake Victoria. It is the district capital of Busega District, Simiyu Region.
The T4 is a Trunk road in Tanzania. The road runs along Lake Victoria in the regions of the Lake Zone in Tanzania. The T4 runs from Tarime at the Kenyan border all the way through Mwanza and Bukoba to the Ugandan border. The T4 is the only highway in the country that both starts and ends at an International border. The roads as it is approximately 765 km (475 mi). The road is entirely paved.
The T6 is a Trunk road in Tanzania. The road runs from the city center of Mtwara along the southern border of Tanzania to Songea and then connecting to the T1 road at Makambako. The roads as it is approximately 931 km (578 mi). The road is entirely paved. This is the only Trunk Road that connects to Mtwara city and Mtwara Port. The T6 provides an important road link as part of the Mtwara Development Corridor.
The T10 is a Trunk road in Tanzania. The road runs from Uyole in Mbeya in the southern highlands and heds south to connect to the Malawin border. THis is the only trunk road that connects to Malawi from Tanzania. The roads as it is approximately 104 km (65 mi). The road is entirely paved. The road connects to a One Stop Border post in Malawi with the Songwe M1 Bridge that crosses the river between Malawi and Tanzania.
The T20 is a Trunk road in Tanzania. The road runs south from Sumbawanga towards the Zambian border in Kasesya. The roads as it is approximately 94 km (58 mi). The road is not entirely paved. In October 2023, the president of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan on a state visit to Zambia expressed desire from the government to upgrade this route and the border post with Zambia.
The M1 road is a road in Malawi. The road serves as the backbone of Malawi's transportation network, stretching from the country's northern border with Tanzania at Kasumulu all the way down to the southern border with Mozambique at Marka. The north-south artery passes through the capital city of Lilongwe and the commercial hub of Blantyre, covering a total distance of 1,140 kilometers. As the longest road in Malawi, the M1 plays a role in connecting the country's major urban centers and facilitating trade and travel..
