The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sport event. The Games involve the elite athletes of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation who compete in a variety of sports. The Solidarity Games were initially created to strengthen Islamic camaraderie and reinforce the values of Islam, primarily to the youth. The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the organization that is responsible for the direction and control of the Islamic Solidarity Games. The ISSF strives to improve Islamic solidarity, promote Islamic identity in sports and help reduce discrimination toward Muslims.
Ahmad Sunarto is an Indonesian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga 3 club NZR Sumbersari. He represented Indonesia at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games on home soil.

Although 42 nations were invited to compete at the competition, ultimately only ten nations took part, with around 700 athletes present. Among the nations competing at the tournament, only Algeria and Libya had sent delegations to the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.
The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games was a multinational, multi-sport event that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 12 to 22, 2017. Previously, the event was held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 and Indonesia in 2013. The second event, originally scheduled to take place in October 2009 in Iran, was later rescheduled but then cancelled.
The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games were the 5th edition of the event held from 9 to 18 August 2022 at Konya, Turkey under the aegis of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF). It was the first time in history that the event was organised by the Turkish Olympic Committee.

Gymnastics competitions were held between 10–11 August 2022 for Men's Artistic and 17–18 August 2022 for Women's Artistic Gymnastics. Aerobic competitions were held between 13–14 August 2022 and The Rhytmic Gymnastics competitions were held on 13–14 August 2022.
