Ali Khalif Galaydh Airport is an airport in Taleh, Somalia.

Overview

The facility is named in honor of Ali Khalif Galaydh. Air travel to Taleh Airport was planned and organized by officials from Khatumo State, an autonomous region in northern Somalia. [1] [2] On 4 December 2012, the airport hosted its inaugural flight from Mogadishu, the national capital. [1]

Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed was a Somali politician and former Colonel in the Somali National Army. He was one of the founders of the Somali Salvation Democratic Front, as well as the Puntland State of Somalia, where he served as the autonomous region's first President. In 2004, Ahmed also helped establish the Transitional Federal Government, which he led as President of Somalia from 2004 until 2008.

The Dhulbahante is a Somali clan family, part of the Harti clan which itself belongs to the largest Somali clan-family — the Darod. In Somalia, the Dhulbahante primarily settle in the three northern regions of Sool, Sanaag, and Togdheer, but they also have a significant presences in Jubaland, particularly in the city of Kismayo. In Ethiopia, they settle in the Dollo Zone specifically in the woredas of Boh, Danot and Werder.

Darod Somali clan

The Darod is a Somali clan. The forefather of this clan was Sheikh Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti, more commonly known as Darood. In Somalia members of the clan settle in the Federal Member States of Jubbaland and Puntland. In Somaliland they settle the regions of Sool, Sanaag and Cayn. Furthermore, the clan has an ancillary presence in pockets of the states of Koonfur-Galbeed and Galmudug. In Ethiopia the clan settles in the Somali State region, whilst in Kenya they settle in the North Eastern Province.

Harti Sub-clan of the Somali Darod clan

Harti, meaning "strong man", is a name used to denote a confederation of various Darod sub-clans of the Somali people. The major sub-clans of the Harti are the Dhulbahante, Dishiishe, Majeerteen and Warsangali, other minor Harti sub-clans are the Kaskiqabe, Geesaguule and Liibaangashe.

Taleh Town in Sool, Somalia

Taleh is a historical town in the eastern Sool region of Somalia. It served as the headquarters of the pre-independence Dervish State. The town is sometimes referred to as the "Sayyid's capital" or "Mullah's capital" referring to the founder of the Dervish state, Mohammed Abdullah Hassan.

An indirect presidential election was held in Somalia on 30 January 2009. Due to the security situation in Baidoa, it was held in Djibouti. President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed won in a run-off election.

Federal Parliament of Somalia

The Federal Parliament of Somalia is the national parliament of Somalia. Formed in August 2012, it is based in the capital Mogadishu and is bicameral, consisting of an Upper House (Senate) and a Lower House. The tenth Parliament of Somalia was inaugurated on 27 December 2016.

Abdikarim Dhaaye was the minister for the Development and Natural Resources department of the Khatumo State in Somalia from 2012 until 2017. In 2012, he took part in the ceremony for the opening of the Taleh airport. In July 2016, he hosted a peace conference in Nairobi.

The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have reached Somalia on 16 March 2020 when the first case was confirmed in Mogadishu. The Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khaire announced that the government has set aside five million dollars to deal with the disease, The Somali Medical Association is concerned that the death toll in the country will be huge and that Somalia will not be able to recover from the economic effects due to poor working relations between central government and federal states which leads to lack of control by central government, as well and the lack of healthcare infrastructure. It has also been speculated that President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed may use the pandemic as an excuse to postpone elections. There have also been concerns over freedom of the press following arrests and intimidation of journalist who have been covering the pandemic in Somalia.
